bruises Rss

hey do your toddlers/babies get lots of bruises?

DS always has unexplainable bruises on him i have no idea where they have come from and when they go away new ones come up
i was wondering if this happens to many other children?

also what cause some one to bruise easily?

thanks

I know babies are born with low vitamin K levels thus the option to get the booster at birth. Vitamin k helps the blood clot so introducing foods with more vitamin k suck as greens might help to stop some bruising. I am on an anticoagulant so bruise on touch and can't eat greens as it will affect my medication.

I think toddlers inflict a lot of their own bruises from pinching and pushing on themselves when trying to play with toys ect as they don't realize their own strength.

My DS is the same - whenever DH gets home he asks if I've been bashing our DS again tongue (I don't find it very funny blink )
I bruise easily as well though, so DS probably gets it from me.
My ds legs are always covered in bruises blink not sure how he gets most of them but he is a little rough.

DS born 2010

Yep, he is constantly covered in them! He is not cautious at all, and runs very fast so is always falling over and knocking himself!

Unless you really feel that he bruises excessively easily, I wouldn't worry about it. I'd tend to be more concerned about a toddler or 2 or 3 year old that DIDN'T have bruises! Just shows that they're out there playing and getting into everything like they're supposed to. My girls are always covered in bruises and the eldest is 7. As a matter of fact I've usually got one or two myself!

But if you are concerned, go see your Dr/Paed and get him checked out.

My eldest DS (almost four) constantly has bruises all over his shins. When his younger brother was learning to walk he had a constant bruise on the left hand side of the forehead this even became a running joke between us and his carers at his childcare.

If they are active they will generally be covered in bruises, especially in the bony areas (Shins, knees, forearms, elbows etc). The softer areas (tummy, bottom, etc) are harder to bruise and are therefore less common. If they do get a lot of bruises in this area then it may be a sign of a problem and worth getting checked out, but otherwise they are perfectly normal.

My DS is covered in bruises. His arms and his legs currently have a sprinking all over them. I'm sure its from the way he crawls. His movements are very solid and quick. And of course now that he is almost walking he is constantly also falling laugh
I first noticed DD's excessive easy bruising and long lasting bruising about a year ago and she was really pale and lethargic as well and always was tired after a few steps, we were concerned enough to see our gP who ran full blood tests , when we received them back she was diagnosed with Von willebrands disease and tested positive to the 2 factors.

Its always better they get checked , we feared the worst ,But luckily it wasn't as bad as we thought as you know yourself when somethings not quite right with your child.
My DS is always covered in bruises unfortunately his bruising comes with alot of swelling too his shins are all knobbly from his bruising as they come up as big black lumps. I took him to the dr about it and the doctor had a look and said he could go for a blood test to see if he is clotting but as the clotting tests we have in australia aren't that great he was hesitant to put him through the test. I explained that he had had a couple of gashes to his head and i had always managed to stem the bleeding before taking him to the doctors. The doctor said since his head wounds (as the bleed more than your usual cut) he managed to stop bleeding before gong to the doctor he clots fine and as he is a fair child he will bruise easily. The swelling associated with it was normal.

He also said that as his bruises were in normal spots legs arms head associated with play not to worry too much.

I also hate it when people haha saying have you been hitting him again?
