annoyed... Rss

yesterday DS got bit on the face by a dog lucky he wasn't hurt

but i find it annoying that everyone makes excuses because it was a "little dog" DS did nothing he walked up to it to pat him and it bit him how does that deserve defending

anyway it is annoying DS didn't deserve that i just felt like letting it out

do you think it is ok for a little dog to bite but not a big dog?

Ohhh your poor little man sad
No I don't think it's ok for any dog to bite I would be just as annoyed as you!!!

I hope he is ok and he doesn't end up with a fear of dog's sad

he is playing with our dog now he is fine but it was juat them thinking it is ok
it was SIL's dog

I agree with pp. I don't think any dog should bite anyone, no matter how big the it is!! angry

I hope you little man is ok & hope he won't be scared of any dogs in the near future smile
Your poor little guy.. sad

I don't think it matters what size the dog is, a bite is a bite and no dog should bite anyone.

2 years ago my now 5 year old niece was bitten by a terrier cross and is now left with horrible scars all over her face and is petrified of dogs.
Her mum (my sister) even had to sadly get rid of their own dog because she was so scared. sad

I hope your son is ok and doesn't end up with a fear of dogs too. sad

Glad he's ok smile
oh no poor baby! sad big hugs

i dont think any dog biting is ok, no matter the size.

How horrible. sad

Your poor DS.

I don't think it matters what size the dog is it not good that it bite someone.

Hope your ds doesn't get scared of them.

Little dogs are usually worse with biting, as its so unexpected. With a bigger dog most people automatically exercise caution, and either avoid the dog or approach it with caution.

As most people are bigger than a little dog they think they are harmless.

I would seriously be annoyed, my grandad had farm dogs and my cousins were scared of them so we always had to lock them up when they were over, or if grandad thought one of the dogs could turn on us, he passed them onto another farmer.

Your SIL should be more cautious with her dog, if it attack someone familiar to it, whats it going to do when another small child approaches it and the dog defends it territory?

She just got lucky this time that your son wasnt seriously hurt. But in future i would make her either tie the dog up or put it in another area if you and your son are visiting.
its defiantely not ok no matter what the size. my little girl has been nipped by my sisters dog which is a poodle never on the face that would not be ok only ever on the fingers when they are near her mouth and she is eating. (the dog not the kids)

I think people think its not ok for big dogs because they do much more damage but i think regardless of the size of the dogs they can still cause physical and emotional scars to the child

Oh poor Isaiah

Is he feeling alright ??

Doesn't matter on dog size biting is still biting

What's happening with dog ?

Sorry but
Your sil do something about her dog.

I feel for Isaiah xoxoxox
thanks glad you all agreee with me our dog is midsize lol (staffy) amd she hasn't ever bit him but if she did people would loose it saying to give her away or put her down yet it is ok that the little dog bit...

Poor lil guy sad
I dont care whos dog it is, whether its a family dog or strangers..I would see red! angry

yeah he is ok and nothing is happening with the dog and i dont think SIL will even care it happened she wasn't at home at the time she will probably just say that it was his fault (like hurt the dog first he didn't though)

and i wont be letting the dog near DS again

No the size of the dog should not matter.

A friend of mine is an anaesthetist. He told me, at the large hosptial he works in, there are more injuries requiring hospital attention from small dogs than from large dogs. It just isn't reported publicly.

There are many reasons for a dog to bite & while it is not good your little one was bitten, it could be that he startled the dog or it had food, was feeling unwell, felt threatened, was cornered, had been tormented before you got there etc.

Having said that, the dog still should have been reprimanded. It is not ok!

So glad your little man is ok & playing with your staffy today.
My Inlaws have a little dog... & he used to be a nasty little thing!!! I actually prefer bigger dogs... Now that Charlie is deaf & blind he has mellowed but having said that we dont leave DD alone with him "Just in case" I dont think it matters whet size a dog is, It shouldnt be allowed to bite!!!
Glad DS is ok!!!
Poor boy sad
I don't think the size of a dog should matter. We have a little dog and to be honest she can be nasty to strangers, but she is fantastic with ds poor girl cops a beating.
I think small dogs are much worse then bigger dogs.
Glad to hear your little man is ok smile

DS born 2010

It is never o.k. It is hard when you have dogs yourself (I have 2). My daughter adores them and they adore her. However if we go out or particularly if we go to the dog beach, she wants to pat any dog that's around. It's our responsibility to teach them that they can't just go patting random dogs. You just never know.

Kinda awkward for you given it was your sister in laws dog though.

Supervise or separate is my motto.

She needs to think of her darling nephew & do something about her dog .

Wether its removng dog tied it up. Or find new home for it .

Isaiah such cute boy.
Absolutely not, I can not believe that people are defending the dog. If your DS didn't provoke the attack then why the heck isn't it the dogs fault?

I was bitten on the face by a Maltese Shitzu when I was 5 years old. I was sitting on the back stairs at my Aunties place and it literally just ran up and bit me. I have a permanent scar from that attack and still detest that little dog to this day.
they were supervised the dog was sitting with my othe SIL at the time and i was in the room too so i know exactly what happen the dog is just vicious/crazy which ever word you'd like to use

that would have been horrible and beacuse it is little and a puppy...

Because it was a puppy was why nothing was done about it. This dog is still crazy and its so old I am surprised it is still alive.

Awwwee.... your poor little man.

I dont think its ok for ANY dog to bite a child. I think the best thing is to always supervise and one little snap and then the two shouldn't meet again. For example, my dads dog used to chase my younger brother through the house as a toddler even though they grew up together the dog couldn't stand him. Two years ago the same dog snapped at my step nephew. I wont allow my dd and the dog within a few meters of each other. Either he gets shut inside while dd is outside or vise versa.

I hope your little dude is ok.

Because it was a puppy was why nothing was done about it. This dog is still crazy and its so old I am surprised it is still alive.

SIL told it off then MIL put it in her room buit they were making excuses for it and its not not like it just bit his hand it was his face right under his eye

this SIL isn't the owner one

Your poor DS. I would be furious.
On now! I'm so glad your little man is okay Isaiah's mum. That must have been very scary.

I agree with everyone else - it's not okay for any dog to bite anyone or any other animal. When my cousin's DD was about 2, we were visiting my grandparents and their little jack russell bit my cousin's DD on the nose and face. There was a lot of blood and she had to be rushed to hospital. Thankfully she was okay but I have never trusted that dog since. Granddad felt terrible about it of course but that sh*t of a dog is a sh*t!
Thats why ive taught DD to hold her hand out for a dog to sniff before she touches it.

Maybe the dog had been hurt by a child in the past and is a bit traumatized!
I never let DD around ANY dogs unsupervised, especially small dogs!

It annoys me people think only big dogs attack - small dogs are usually more aggressive than larger dogs
Any bite by a dog regadless of size, is terrible..
I am in agreance with all the other PP.

I also have a staffy, and she wouldn't hurt a fly... More likely play with the fly... but I ALWAY supervise her with DD.

Do not trust that dog again!!
sad Poor little man. I hope he is ok. And as other posters have said it is not ok. Doesn't matter what size the dog is
