When did your toddler start saying several words? Rss

My son is almost 16months old and can say up to about 7 words but most of them he has said once or he just wont repeat the word he said already! He is very smart and knows what almost everything is.... Just curious to see what everyone elses toddlers are up to?

He will be taking it all in and will just start spurting out words and you won't be able to keep up with him!!! So watch out...

I used to listen to DS when he would wake in the morning and play with his toys in his cot in the bedroom next to ours and it amazed me how many words I understood that he used with the toys, but didn't with us. And they were the first words he started using - "car brrrm brrm" "toast" and "milk" were 3 I can remember now. Even now he practices words with his toys before he uses them with us.

Don't panic yet, it will all come out shortly!
Hi! My 18month says a handful of words/animal noise but understands alot more than she says!! So he might be the same so be careful lol my dd will follow simple instructions even though she has never said the words I use in the instructions!! But she can say mummy, daddy, puppy, bubble, no (that's her answer to everything lol I can't think what else at the moment but your ds and my dd sound about the same smile

I agree Tallulahbelle! My dd has just turned 16 months old and she can say about 8 words. Duck, Cat, Bath, ta, Up, yes, This, Dad and Mum. She can also Meow and moo laugh. All very simple words but she understands verything. If I say give this to daddy/nana etc she will do it. Or where is the phone? Things like that, I figure it doesn't matter how much she says aslong as she understands us!

Thats what i figured! He is very smart can understand pretty much every instruction i give him... He is obsessed with cars atm and everything is brrummmmm haha. He says mum , dad can say hello bye car, dirt girl but those last couple words very rarely come out it's definatly interesting to find out that its similar around the board..

Aren't they amazing?! We are always so surprised at what she understands simply cos she's not saying more lol clever little things, they do it on purpose haha

My 16 month old, talks all the time! Except its 95% baby babble. We only get 'dada', 'mum-mum', 'no', 'uh oh' and 'oh dear'. Oh and says yes in russian.(i have no idea why...) Then occasionally she will pick up another word and use it non stop for a week and then never say it again. I'm waiting for her to start speaking fluent english mid baby babble rant.
But she does seem to understand everything I ask her or tell her.
They understand so much don't they??!! My 16 month old will start walking to the garage and waving and saying "bye bye" when she sees me pick up my handbag and keys - she knows this is what mummy does when we are going to leave the house!

She says about 15 words - Mummy, Daddy, Pip (our dog!), Poppy, Nanny, duck, teddy, shoes, fish, clock (her first word - though it sounds more like *** when she says it, hahahaha!) no (she says that a lot), yummy, apple, na-na (banana), hat. And she can make some animal noises too, like woof woof, quack, meow, etc.

It's only been in the last 2 weeks that her vocabulary has just exploded, she has started saying about 5 of those words from the list just recently.

I have noticed with my DD that she has spurts of development - it will feel like ages since she has done something new, and then all of a sudden she has a spurt where she is suddenly doing heaps of different things! I love it, it's one of the best parts of being a mum is experiencing your child do something new for the first time wub
