How much is your 18 month old talking? Rss

Hi! My ds is just over 18 months and doesn't say much at all, he says mum, dadda, bub bub, yum yum and a few other things. My dd's talked a fair bit by this age and were extremely noisy talking in their baby talk but ds is fairly quiet, though his paediatrician thinks it's to do with his seizures.
Just curious how much your kids talked at 18 months?
Thanks in advance smile
Hey hun
The twins are starting to talk way more now there two next month at 18 months they weren't talking a great at all specially dd2 it's hard not to compare siblings I compared the twins to dd1 as she was and is a bright lil peanut always very forward so I worried about the twins development a lot.
We now get 2-3 word sentences and counting (mainly ds) dd isn't as talkative as ds but still tries lol

I wouldnt worry yet hun and as you said his seizures maybe a reason too xxx

Thanks Ilovemylilbugs smile for your reply. Yeah I'm not worried as I know the girls and I always provide everything he needs so really he doesn't have to ask for anything lol He's so spoilt I'm sure he'll be expecting his sisters to be doing stuff for him when he's bigger too. Hey do you like my new picture of ds? He wanted to be like Miss P with her glasses so we had to buy him some toy ones which he puts on to read lol

hiya, my youngest is 23 months (2 in 2 week...AHHHH!!)
He doesnt talk a great deal. he says "mumma, dadda, izzy (cousin) meow, ted, one more" and the rest pretty much just mumbles. oh "yeah and no' he has SOOO much to say, so im hoping the frustration will kick in a get him trying a little harder. in saying this- he has a 5.5yr old brother whom, not purposfully, talks for him. which doesnt help. he also has had issues with his ears, and we have been told to talk on his left side, and he only has approx 90% hearing in his left ear, and 85% in his right. neither of which helps. i wouldnt worry, your wee one will get there in time smile

Thanks jujubean for your reply smile

My girl is two in August. She can copy alot of words now but hasn't actually really started to speak for herself, just to copy us. She mostly uses this weird noise in the back of her throat to speak to us. And she's a bright button. At 18 months, she was probably only saying a couple of basic words. It's really all starting to happen NOW.

Does your dd growl by any chance skip?? Dd2 is a massive growler and noise maker blink

I found my first child talked a lot more earlier than my second. I think #2 kids delay their words b/c #1 kids do all the talking for them. Though my #2 says things like thank you, bless you and here you go , can't say mummy. As long as they can understand your instructions I wouldn't worry too much.
DD is 18 months and I was a bit worried about her speech too. She can say mum, dad, nana, bye bye, ta, yes, ball, bath, bot bot (bottle), juice, baby and that's about it. She understands everything I say though so I've relaxed a little. I'm going to talk to the chn about it at her 18 month check up smile

First we had Each Other, Then we had You, Now we have Everything

My miss really took off at 18 months, but she broke her leg, AND had 8 adults around her for the month, so there was always someone to sit and play or chat with her. at 2 and a bit she doesnt shut up grin

DD just turned 18 months old the other day! She says mum or mummy, dad and daddy, kitty, buddy(our cat), birdy, num num and nigh nighs! Other than that she pretty much just talks a million miles a minute in a crazy language of her own! I was worried too as my nephew talks SO much and he is 4 months older than her! But he has two older siblings that sit and teach him words so i guess that makes a difference too! But she repeats stuff when we say it and if you ask her to get things she knows what it is!
Everyone is different i think for his age that enough, i got told that they you use 3-5 words regularly at this age and understand the meaning! Hope that helps! grin
