how old for penut butter?

Hi ladies just wanted to know how old your child was when you introduced them to peanut butter? My son is 20m and hassles my hubby when he has it on toast but I'm too scared to give him his own just yet. I have read it is now better for allergies to give it to them.at a younger age now but I'm still.not sure.

At 20 months i would let him have a little bite and see how he handles it. I would be more cautious if there was someone in the family with a nut allergy.

Gave DD peanut butter at 7 months, no allergies and she loves it

I agree with PP if there's a family history of peanut allergies I'd be cautious, but we gave DS smooth peanut butter at about 7months. he loves it, has it most days on toast.

I gave dd some at around 12 months- small amounts to make sure all was ok and now she has it on toast about once a week smile

I think the old recommendation a few yrs ago was wait until 12 months to introduce peanut things, but they now recommend to do it earlier at around 6-8 months.

DD1 had her first try when she was 1 1/2 and has had no problems with it.

DD2 had her first try when she was 9-10 months and had it a few times with no problems, but the last few times she's had it she's broken out in hives sad

Agree with all of the above. DS began trying it at 7mths by having a little bit of DFs toast and we gradually increased it.
