The Breakfast Battle Rss

Every morning i have the same issue, my DD is 15 months old and i can't get her to have anything for breakfast!
I know she would eat if she was hungry but i worry that she isnt eating enough! I have tried every cereal known to man and every spread on toast, eggs! Everything i can think of some mornings she will nibble on things but never eats a proper meal!
Does anyone else have this problem with their little one and if so what did you do or do you still have the problem?
Any advise would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!

Some kids- well adults too really- just don't like eating when they have just woken up.
My DD was not very good as a little person at eating breakfast, I just feed her later on, about an hour after waking.
By the time she was at school age it wasn't a problem anymore

My blog, take a peek into my world

I agree with the PP, some people jsut don't like breakfast (me included). You could try giving her breakfast for morning tea and see if that makes a difference or try and give her something that she considers a treat. Fresh fruit like watermellon or something like that. What sort of things does she eat in the day?

Does your little one have a big bottle of milk on waking? I find that stops my toddler from being hungry for a little while. I found when I fed him straight away he'd play with it and then want to get down, and then want snacks in an hour. You could try reducing her milk, or offering breakfast later.
If you ant some suggestions for new things to try, I do a yummy Apple, Yoghurt and Maple Bircher Muesli and Banana Berry Pancakes. They're on my blog - http://keepingupwiththeholsbys.com
There's heaps of family friendly recipe on there too.
These are both delicious and nutritious breakfasts and if your babe won't eat them, you'll enjoy helping her out!!!
Good luck.
She loves her fresh fruit and yoghurt!! For lunch it varies between different things especially due to the weather and dinner she normally has whatever we have! She eats a really good range of things and LOVES her veggies! I think you may be right as morning tea seems to be a bigger deal to her than breakfast! I have started to give her milk in the morning as she is not eating but it was before then too that she didnt like it! maybe you are all right and she could just not be a breakfast person!!
Thanks for the suggestions of recipes too!! I love making new things for her to try!
My GP tells me i worry too much cause she is gaining weight perfectly and growing just fine so i think i just need to let her eat when she wants!!

Thanks Ladies! smile
