Meal ideas when suffering from a cold Rss

Hi everyone, both my little girls have colds atm so don't feel like eating much.
However the eldest doesn't eat well at the best of times so I am at a loss what to offer tonight.
Last night they barely ate, the eldest ended up having half a vegemite sandwich, this was after they rejected my pumpkin soup, various other roasted /steamed veges, and even pasta shapes, grated cheese. As you can see I put a fair bit of effort in offering healthy choices but they are not interested, so now I stand in the kitchen at a loss what to even bother cooking for them tonight? sad

Wondered if anyone has a winning recipe that little ones eat even if sick?

other than stuff in the croc pot, there's nothing much you can offer. I'd suggest fresh fruit, get some vitamin C (mandarins are my favourite when I've got a cold, and I gave DD pieces of strawberry and banana on top of the mandarin, she loved it!)

Vegemite is an amazing food source wink it's better than them eating nothing

thanks for that, unfortunately they don't like mandarin either, were eating apples and bananas but now seem to have gone off them so I'm on the hunt for nice tasting apples atm. she has gone off the Fuji's I normally buy.
We usually have frozen blueberries which are great but I've run out and can;t get to the shops with them both sick.
Thankgod it's the weekend so I can go shopping!!

If they are not feeling well I probably wouldn't offer much, just lots of fluids, how about some French toast or yoghurt? They will eat as they start to feel better.
My girls are sick too at the moment and my toddler refused all food for a few days, the only thing I got her to eat was a frozen smoothie I made, just some milk, yoghurt, banana and berries and little bit of honey, blended into a smoothie and put into freezer in little containers or those thing you make popsicles in, ... she loved it and think it soothed her sore throat a bit too. Ice tea with honey is great too. Honestly I wouldn't worry to bother cooking for them, just make sure they have plenty fluid.

Perhaps pancakes with fruit (mashed banana or grated apple) in them. Hot porridlge or warm wheatbix. Jelly and custard can be soothing. You'll probably get eaten out of the house when they start to feel better, so just keep the fluids up if you can.
