tantrums! lol Rss

So this morning at 4:30am, I got to experience my very first tantrum from a child! lol

My son is 14 months, and woke up early because he'd kicked his covers off. So I went in to cover him up, went to lie him back down and he went ballisic! lol fist and other limbs flailing everywhere - screaming the house down! I honestly have never seen a display like it (being a first time mum! haha)

Out of sheer 'I don't know what I'm meant to do-ness', I chuckled madly to myself, covered him up as best as I could, and walked out. He did fall back asleep within about 5 mins, after the continued objection though.

But as I was shocked that he was tantrumming at 14 months (I thought I had a few more months up my sleeve! haha), I was wondering what you guys do when your little one (and the little bit older ones) have their hissyfits? Would love to have a few tricks up my sleeve for when it happens again and I get no result from walking away or ignoring it... smile

Thanks heaps guys!
Ehehehe yes some start testing the waters early
Depends if they just chuck a tantrum especially being so young it's different to a older 1
Talking from experience with my youngest I use distraction works sometimes and other times a complete fail
And other times iv ignored the meltdown but my god they test your patience especially when they follow we're ever you go around the house and continue on their meltdown

Sometimes it's been that bad iv picked her up and put her in her cot with a toy

The older 1 depends if the meltdown is due to being disciplined then I leave her in her moment
If we're out and about iv started saying see ya later alligator and started walking away she gets up and runs after me
If the meltdown is due to something not working or giong her way or being frustrated she can not tell me what she wants I calm her down by playing tickle game
And then work on what she wants
It's bloody hard work I tell you it feel like im a negotiator most days
The worst is if both have a meltdown due to a toy being taken away from both due to fighting
( in that moment iv ignored and walked outside ) for my sanity smile
Oh the lovely tantrums... dont u just love them!!!!!

When my daughter has hers... I find it best to ignore her. If i can distract her I will but what i do is gently let her head lye on the floor otherwise she will fling it back and crack her skull open! and i just let her have her moment... sometimes women just need moments lol

i have found her tantrums haven't been as bad as they were a few months ago. she also started really young... around the age of your son actually. i couldn't believe it. i was like if this is how it is NOW, how is it going to be when she is 2. but she seems to have settled down smilesmilesmile
