help! dd is sick. Rss

Hi

So dd had a runny nose for almost two weeks. No other symptoms and got over it fine

But since thursday shes been feverish with her temp all over the place the highest was 39.
shes been getting more and more lethargic each day and tonight she seemed to find it hard to balance when walking. Shes been right off all food. I even offered her a biscuit and juice but she refused. She isn't herself at all. sad

Im wondering if any of you have any ideas? Should I be on the look out for anything in particular?
if she is the same tomorrow I will take her to ed but id rather not have to iykwim?

TIA
Xx nods

Well we did the 3am run to ed this morning because she was throwing up bile and not holding down water. The nurse checked her throat and ears and said her throat was a little red and swollen. She said to keep doing everything that I have been (panadol to bring temp down and trying to get her to drink water) and if she gets worse bring her back.

Well its 7:40 am and shes running around the house like normal! Both dh and I feel like we've been hit by a bus though. Both up and down all night plus the hospital trip has us like zombies.

Bloody kids! Eh? You tell yourself they're ok, they freak you out and the next thing they're running marathons around the house!

Ear infection, the runny nose would have contributed to it and the fever and loss of balance indicates thats what it is.

We have a walk in clinic here that is like an outpatient type thing rather than going to the ED, perhaps that is a possibility for you. Otherwise depending on how she's going tomorrow give her panadol / nurofen and go to the GP Monday - depending on the severity she'll need antibiotics and only way to confirm is for a Dr to check inside her ears.

We have a child health clinic but its only open Mon-fri till 4:30. I was going to take her there monday if she was still like it. My gp is on maternity leave herself so getting into a dr is like pulling teeth atm.

Oh Noddy, sorry to hear she was so sick - glad she's up and running now!
As they say, it gets worse before it gets better.

Perhaps you will all have to have a nice little nap this afternoon. smile
