Front tooth discolouring.

Hi there, my almost 4 dh fell and smashed his front tooth on tile floors a few weeks back, didnt cause much pain at all, didnt chip it so I just thought nothing of it.
Recently it has started to turn black. The dentist said that this is common after hitting it like that and may be the nerves and he needs xray.
Only problem is that he would not let the dentist near him, screamed the place down before even sitting on the chair. Worst still- I had to pay for a consultation that he didnt even have!
So I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? And will it ever go light again? So worried about him being bullied for it when he starts school.

My best friend's boy did something similar at a similar age to one of his front teeth, unfortunately his tooth was dead and they just had to wait for it to fall out. Think it ended up getting pulled out earlier this year (he was 5 and started school this year) because the adult tooth started to grow behind. I don't believe there was any issues with teasing at daycare or school.
