Night time toilet training Rss

We are trying to night time toilet train DD who is 3 3/4.
She is toilet trained during the day no worries but has always worn a nappy to bed.
For the last week we have stopped big drinks an hour before bed and a last minute toilet trip. We have even taken her to the toilet at 9:30ish before we go to bed buy by morning she has wet again.

She is a deep sleeper (which has been a blessing until now) so she doesnt even wake up once wet.

Do we just persevere? (obviously yes, but any advice would be great thanks)

Sorry can't offer you much advice!

You are doing all the things we did for DD1 and DS. We were fortunate and they had both night TT by 2.5 - 3yrs.

The only thing we did differently was take them for a last trip to the toilet at around 12:30am as we went to bed alot later than you do!

Do you think she would wake up is she wet her bed? ie. No nappy!

Some kids just need the shock of wetting themselves to snap out of it! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Otherwise just keep at it. She will grow out of it one day!

Good luck!

Hi there I have a dd the same age smile
Dd1 is completely toilet trained and has been for quite a while now, your dd is doing a fantastic job grin
My dd doesn't seem to get into as deep as sleep as your dd, she is a fantastic sleeper but will get up and go the loo herself so i dont think she is out to it like your lil one. I use to hear her cry as it was dark so I learnt to keep the light on in the toilet so she could follow the light.
Your doing a great job I only let dd1 have a drink with tea and then that's it toilet before bed I use to wake her before I went to bed as well but at like 10.30 pm.
You might have to try and wake her in the middle of the night and take her to the toilet???
Your doing everything right just keep on to it like you are and hopefully it'll all work out.
I have to add as pp said has she actually wet the bed with no nappy?? Dd absolutely freaked out and has only wet like twice since no pull up at night she hated it so bad and screamed and ripped her pjs off lol massive freak out :roll eyes:
You are doing all you can. Unfortunately you have a bed wetter on your hands and the only way to stop it is to let her grow out of it. DS is 5 in January and is excatly like your DD. He has been tt during the day since 24 months and is the heaviest sleeper and also doesnt wake when he wets and sleeps all night in it. Since having #3 i have been taking DS to the toilet around 3am and he is wet even though he was also taken at 10pm. Bedwetters wet numerous times a night due to something happening within their brain. They do eventually grow out of it and as people always tell me how many 18 year old men do you know that still wet the bed.
Thank you so so much for you replies.

Yes, we have had no nappy on at all each night for a week (weather getting warmer, washing dries faster) and yep, she wets and sleeps in it.
We are amazed that it doesn't wake her up.

Will keep at it for a few weeks and see what happens.

Both my sister wet the bed until they were around 10-12 years old.

So I was a bit of a blessing for my parents in that way. Don't worry! I made up for it in many other ways!

Atleast we now have the luxury of decent waterproof mattress protectors and thing such as Drynights!

Makes the clean up so much easier.

I remember my parent dragging mattresses out into the sun to dry on a daily basis!

Hopefully it won't take your DD too long. My niece wet her bed up until she was around 6yrs and all of a sudden stopped. As Dani09 said it's a connection with the brain thing!

I wouldn't worry about if she will be a long term bedwetter, she is still quite young. My son is a heavy sleeper and it took a few months to have him dry on a regular basis right through the night.

A few tips that might help, take them to the toilet later in the night. I even remember getting up at 3amish to take him sometimes. Also, the reusable nappy pants like from bambinipronto seemed to help. They don't hold all the wee but they do help and I think it makes them more aware that they a wet. A great thing is the protectors that you just tuck in on either side of the bed. They are not overly long, really covers the general soaking area. They are great because you don't have to change the whole bed in the middle of the night.
have you tried putting on undies and then the nappy? Then there is the thought of I am wearing undies so I can not wet them, and if they do wet them they will feel wet, but the nappy is still there. That is what we have done and it has worked for us
