HE HEAD BUTTS THINGS??

HI!
my little one head butts things and smacks his head when he doesn't get his way!?
does anyone know why kids do this or has the same prob?
its a bit funny but at the same time i dont want him to hurt himself!
if i try to stop him he does it more and i dont want to encorage him.

I was watching a show on foxtel called the baby wisperer and she had a child who was doing this. All she did was get a bean bag or you could use something soft like a big cushion etc, and everytime bub starts head banging just pick him up and put him on the bean bag, you need to be very consistant in this (like controlled crying) and in the end they are suppose to learn to go to that particular spot to do it.
