Day naps Rss

Just curious, when did your toddler drop from 2 day sleeps to 1?
and did you force it or were they just unable to settle for one of the naps?
DS sometimes has 2 sleeps but if we are out he can handle just having 1, so will he give me cues as to when to drop to one all the time?

Usually they let you know by refusing the afternoon nap or pushing the morning nap back. You will know so just follow his lead.

Mummy to Hazza (Jan07) and Emmy (Jan09)

I think my DD dropped her morning nap around her first birthday. Like Dani says above, I followed her lead - she gave me hints like not going to sleep when I put her down for one of her naps so I tried doing one, starting a bit later in the morning. There was a bit of a phase-in period - some days she would have two naps, others just one. I followed her lead at that time depending on how tired and cranky she was being but after a couple of weeks she was doing one a day regularly. Now DD naps from just after lunch for 2 or 3 hours.
My daughter is 20 months and still has 2 day sleeps for about 1 hr each. Goes down without fuss. Sleeps from anywhere between 6:30pm and 7pm until 5:30am although lately has been going through until 6am (yay).

1st day nap - around 8:30am

2nd day nap - around 1:30pm
DD dropped from one to two sleeps at about 14 months. She would have her first sleep really early in the morning so by the time 4O'clock came she was tired again, which doesn't work out to well since her bed time is between 6.30-7.00. She now has a sleep for about 2-3hours in the middle of the day which works out perfectly, she is now much more happier! However if we are going out at night I will try and give her two sleeps on at 11 0r so and the other at 4ish. smile
