Seems frightened to go to bed now after waking last night, could this be a bad dream at only 16mths old? Rss

Well strange things are happening with my 16mth old who is normally a great sleeper and loves going to bed.

Last night woke screaming around 2am, she was standing up in her cot when I got to her and seemed desperate, pointing out the door, for me to get her out. I ended up bringing her into our bed to calm down, and she was perfectly happy. Then when I took her back to bed she got all upset again, unlike any cry I have heard from her, more of a scream really. Anyway I had to finally leave her in there to go to sleep which she did, but it was a strange experience and I wondered could she have had a nightmare so young or did something outside wake and scare her??

So today went to put her to bed for a nap and the same reaction, finally DH patted her off to sleep but she really seems scared to be in her room.
I am not looking forward to bed tonight...
Has anyone experienced this or have any idea what could be going on.
BTW nothing in her room has changed not even the bedding etc.

Very baffled sad

Thanks Happyhead, you might be right as she's cried again tonight as soon as we went to leave her room, we did the normal bedtime routine and she was perfectly happy right until we were leaving, so DH has stayed in her room to calm her down. She is happy with him though it doesn't need to be me.

Is there any way to handle this situation or just sit with her until she is ok?

Thanks
