I'm not perfect....I do get frustrated and yell at herf sometimes but I'm at the point of frustration. I try to spend quality time with her just on her own but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I'm starting to lose my mind. Help!!!!
Tantrums due to newborn
In despair: My beautiful 3 and half year old daughter is struggling with sharing me with her newborn brother. She has been throwing some major tantrums lately and the latest being at 11:00 last night when she happened to wake up just as I was going in to feed my son. My husband then spent half and hour with her screaming in our bedroom while she called out "I want my Mum". It's so hard everytime I go to feed him or try to put him to sleep. She doesn't understand that he needs time too.

Ahh It can be hard sometimes, I completely understand. My 3yr old has just started tantrums lately too. Have you tried getting your daughter involved, so helping you when it's time to feed him, put him to bed? Get her to get the things you need to change his nappy and help do up the buttons, things like that so she doesn't feed excluded. When its time to put him to bed can she get him a toy to sleep with (doesn't actually have to use it), or a blanket, give him a kiss and cuddle and then maybe give her something to do while you put him down (some snacks or get her to set up a game for the 2 of you to play while he's asleep).
She is probably just adjusting and will take some time. Hope you can find a solution. smile

I am not sure about the snack idea. It may be become an excuse for tantrums - we witnessed that.
Maybe your daughter could have a variety of books to look at during feeding and bath times. If new ones are beyond your budget, you could try an op shop for a few. I got a couple that hadn't even had the original shop stickers taken off. During the day when the weather is bad you could try some time with a favourite DVD or a CD to listen to. At bath time maybe you could let her hold the towel until you are ready to use it.
