Leap Frog Leappad Rss

Hi ladies, just after some opinions on the new leap pad Explorer the one thats like the ipad that leap frog have put out. Its age 4-9 has camera/video can connect interent, you buy game and learning catridges to go in it.

My DD is turning 4 in june and starting morning kindy this week and its always a struggle with what to get her as a gift in the middle of winter we wanted to get a bike but thats out cause she has no where to ride it at moment and the weather wont be great so I was thinking about one of these leap frog things. She was using our old pc but it died a couple of weeks ago and now she uses my laptop sometimes but im finding it hard to get stuff for her to do on it plus it worries me she does something to the documents on here.

Has anyone got one yet, is 4 really to young to have something like this

The other thing she is big into at the moment is taking photos and we thought maybe a digital camera.

All opinions appreciated. thanks smile
We just bought one for DD1 who turned 3. I think 4 is a good age to use it as some of the games my DD needs some help with.

DD loves hers and loves reading the books on it (should I say the books reading to her lol). I think she will love it. My DD loves the game where she gets to look after a dog and take it to shows and wins prizes, think it's calls pet pals.

Ive bought one for my almost 3 year old daughter for her birthday (the week after Easter). I think she will love it. My eldest daughter (just turned 8) has had a play with it and thinks its great. Some of the games will be a little too hard for the 3 year old, but there are still plenty of things she can do on there. She also loves taking photos so witht he inbuilt camera, it means (hopefully) she will leave my phone alone smile

I'm interested in getting one aswell, the cheapest I have seen it is toyworld for $189, I'm just unsure if my son will like it. An d its a lot of money to spend on a toy that its not going to get used.

You could always sell it again if he doesnt show an interest wink
we got dd whos 2.5 an android tablet a couple of weeks ago (well its not hers, its the whole families) thought it would be good for when I'm feeding ds to do wee activities for her and it is SO good even better than I thought! some of the games are so educational, and great apps so we can only let her play certain apps, and then we're sent an email at the end of the week saying what shes done (although we're making very certain that its always supervised and only bought out for small amounts of time as a treat) but can't recommend the idea of them enough smile think overall for the price difference it would be worth getting a proper tablet though, has more free apps and stuff anyway, your quite limited as to what you can do with the leapfrog ones, espec for that kind of money
thanks everyone for your replies, I think I will check out the normal tablets aswell and definitely get one or the other.

Then she can also get new games for birthdays/xmas for going forward, she has so many other toys the only other thing i could think of was a bike but ill leave that one till summer i think.

cost i have seen are around the $200 mark

have a great weekend
i bought mine for $140 with 3 games (Cars, Disney Princess and Toy Story 3) - all brand new still in the plastic from an Adelaide Facebook Group called Tot Shop, so it defiintely pays to look around. I have kept the 3 games aside for either xmas or her next birthday. I saw the 3 games in Myer the other day on sale for $35 each (normal price $50), so I def. scored a bargain.
