Storage ideas for toys !! Rss

How do you store your kids toys. I have 2 of those play wheelie bins and two huge plastic storage boxes for DS toys but still there are a few toys scattered in various places around his room, and it looks a bit ordinary with just the toy bins and tubs.

Anyone have any ideas on what storage is practical yet looks good ?? smile

Toy storage is killing me at the moment- kids have too many toys these days!! I haven't even bought most of these lol

I just got these awesome 9 drawer things- one blue, one pink from go lo for $30 each. They hold a fair amount of toys and look really cute smile not sure how to explain it better! Dd also has a teddy chain hanging from her ceiling with all her Teddy's/ soft toys hanging off it. Think that was from toys r us and we also have the wheelie bin smile

I want to put up white floating shelves for her books/puzzles.

I have a 14 month old so she probaly doesn't have as much toys as your children but I think she has way too many! My dad built me (and I know you can buy ones similar) a cube book shelf. 5 cubes across and 4 cubes down each cube being 30cm by 30cm. I have material tubs along the bottom for all her small toys blocks etc and the other cubes have all her other toys in them and her Teddy's are along the top. I love it smile most of her toys fit smile
LOL i have no idea...?!

A Toy cull might help...
(just kidding)

My DD has a lot of toys and I am a hoarder so nothing has been thrown away. tongue
Have you been to Howards Storage world?

I have one of what your talking about TalluhlaBelle but with just 6 draws and his little toys r in there such as blocks cars etc.
I'd love to get one of those cube bookshelves but we live so far away from a decent shopping centre that I haven't seen one around here !
I've done a semi toy cull when we moved just 6 weeks ago. Didn't get rid of the toys completely but moved them to the awesome undercover area we have outside !!!
And i have never heard of Howards !!! Don.t think we have one here in Vic !!!

I'd get dp to build a bookshelf but am still waiting for him to finish the rocking horse he started building for ds 1st birthday...... Ds is 2 in 2 weeks lol

We do have Howards Storage World in Victoria, I'm sure they are in Melbourne. There is also a place called Store that is in some regional areas such as Geelong and Ballarat.
I use a wooden laundry hamper basket in the nursery because I liked the look of it more than toy boxes and mini plastic wheelie bins in the play area.
I have a 3 1/2 month old daughter and she has been given massive amounts of toy's. Some of the toy's that she has been given have ring's on them, so what i've done i've bought two white link chain's about a metre long and hung them from the roof. You can connect the toy's on the chain, and with the other soft toy's that dont have ring's on them i've just used a needle and threaded some wool through them to make a loop and connected them to the chian using plastic ring's you can buy. Great way to get them of the floor and make room on your shelf's. Save's on having big bulky container's in your kid's room to.

it's so hard to store toys and you hate to throw things away so what I've done is bought storage tubs from Kmart and 'combined' all similiar toys and put a laminated picture of what should go in each box on the side so my girls know where to pack things away. ie, anything princess/barbie related is together, anything to do with animals/bugs etc is together the boxes are stackable so I'm lucyky to have some space in the shed or wardrobes so I can rotate stuff, then I have one box of 'odd' things you know the little bits and bobs they get from nan visiting, kinder toys etc. and for craft and crayons etc I have some drawers on wheels (Kmart) that has plenty paper, stencils and all that in there so they can use away to their hearts content. It's worked so far so fingers crossed it stays that way!!!!

We have a toy chest and a modular table/chair/storage unit from Nanny Annie that has seriously been the best thing I ever bought and at only $89 a bargain! Check it out - you'll find it in the Childrens Table & Chairs section of their website at nanny-annie dot com wink
