Naming Ceremony Rss

We are planning a naming ceremony for our little almost 4 mth old bubba and I am wondering if anyone has done this for their kids and what was involved? We have chosen 'god'parents (as its not a christening we're not sure if they should be called godparents but we don't like the term support people...), picked the date and have been lucky enough to book the celebrant who did our wedding.

What we don't have is any idea on what format the ceremony should follow and what is expected of everyone. Our celebrant has only done one or two so he is going to find that info.

Thoughts? Help!
we had a naming ceremony.
and also a celebrant.

This is what we decided to incorporate into hers:
We planted a tree for her (even tho it was in a local park) i planted it in a little pot and then when went home planted it there. (Her name is Willow so we got a little Willow Tree).

We also had a rose pettal ceremony.
Two of my best friends and my sister and SIL got a box of rose petals (Yellow, red, pink and white) and threw them over her head while they said something wishing her for things....

We had a god father for her DH best mate... He made a speach and it was so nice...

I really hope that helps..
One of the websites we looked at they said they call the mentors, we liked that instead of god parents etc... You can google naming ceremonies and they have rough outlines and guides on websites

Good luck enjoy the day smile
I had naming ceremonies for all my boys, instead of god parents we called them guardians, had little pamphlets handed out with their picture on the front and a poem about children inside along with their full name and a thank you on the back. It started with a welcome to everyone, introduction of bubs and each 'guardian'. The celebrant then talk a little about what a guardian/god parent role is and then we had signing of a certificate for bubs to keep. Photos of guardians holding bubs was next and as babies (depending on age) get restless quickly my sons were soon put back to bed while everyone stayed on for afternoon tea. So depends on what style or theme you want to incorporate into the service you can do just about anything. Good luck smile
