Sorry can't spell but what is the best thing to do with presents at a party? Last time DD1 ripped open all her presents as they were given to her as the guests arrived. This meant that a) I had no idea who gave her what as it happened so fast I couldn't write it down so couldn't thank people properly and cool The box for the game that MIL gave her got ripped before she'd even had it for 30 seconds. Should I wait til after the party? Put them away and do it at the end?

You can either 1) wait and open them up after the party or 2) if you haven't got like 50 kids at the party and have like 50 presents to open, you can form a little circle with her friends and open them one by one, and then thank each person personally that way smile

I know what you mean, I learnt that lesson the hard way too! Now we have everyone sit their presents on a table, and towards the end of the party they get opened one by one so everyone can see.
We had a present table and at the end we let the kids one by one give DS the gift they had brought him!
That way I knew what he got and from who and he said thankyou to everyone as they gave them!

Thanks, I think I'll have a table and depending on how the party goes have them at the end.
i like the idea of gathering her friends around in a circle while opening the gifts... this way you could thank them right away!
our usual practice though is to open the presents after the party and then send them thank you cards a day or two after the celebration. we do gift registries (on thankyou gift registry) for our kid's parties, which work great as it avoids double ups (this way, friends and family won't be frustrated having bought the same gift for the child!).
