On foxtel there is a show called True Blood.

The show is from a series of books (12 to the series i believe) you can buy them from a book shop or download them.
I have 3 waiting for me to finish my current book.
I'm told they are better than twilight, so i'm looking forward to them.

They are written by Charlaine Harris as far as I know the first 3 titles are;
Dead until Dark
Living Dead in Dallas
Club dead.

From what i hear the show will be seen in 12 series, one for each book.

Has anyone read them? What did you think??

i've just finished reading the last in the sookie stackhouse series. there are 9 in the series.

i too, love them....i wouldnt say they are 'better' then the twilight saga, just similar in a few ways (vamps/mind reading) thats as far as it goes really, and the vamps arent as nice lol.

they r the type of book u dont wanna put down.

its interesting u say there are 12 as at the end of the last novel, u are left waiting for more.....it isnt a end iykwim, it is kinda leading into a next book.....so maybe there are a few more to come??

you wont want ur DD watching it i dont think - a fair few full on porn scenes in them........i would even classiy it as soft porn and it is R rated. knowing u IRL and what u r like, i know u will freak when u see how full on the beroom action is - and it aint ur normal sex either, its violent sex too....

I have read and watched the series (what there is of the tv show atm anyway) i loved them both! But i will warn you from the second TV season onwards (and parts of the first) the tv series goes on a nearly totally different tangent then the books and it can get confusing... i honestly prefer the books to the tv show in its specifics (like vampire details, shapeshifter characteristics etc i wont say much so not to give it away)

I actually like the vampire lore in the Sookie Stackhouse series better then twilight- and although i love twilight and it was very well written the whole time i was nearly giggling with the whole vampire sparkling bit, it was nicely unique though.

Like the show (use to love) but love the books - well until the last book.

I've read the whole series and love them, however I also enjoy the tv show yet find them completely different to each other in many ways. For one Bill is so not a major character in the way they make him in the show. But I wont spoil it for anyone who hasnt read them wink

I have not read the books, I don't have the time. But I have watched every episode to date and it is fantastic, addictive awesome! I have heard the books are pretty close to the series
