I can highly recommend "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle.
It was given to us as a present before my dd was born and we have read it to her ever since. I suggest the board book tho as the story has the caterpillar eating through various foods leaving holes behind. My dd loved poking her fingers through the holes. First she just watched the page then she started saying "pop" when it was time, then counting, then naming fruit, days of week etc etc. It is really a great book to grow with them and seems to teach them so much and is quite tactile with the holes in the book.
"Whose Nose and Toes" has gorgeous pictures and very easy words and repetition. It was an early fave of ours as well.
Jez Alborough's "Where's My Teddy" and the others in that series are awesome boppy rhyme type books. I am not 100% on what the other titles are, but I think one is "It's the Bear" and there is one more as far as I am aware.
They are our faves from early on anyway. Dont forget storytime/rhymetime at your library - it's another great resource!
Happy reading!
