Traveling with a 2-3wk Rss

Hi!
I'm due with first bub mid August. My really good friend is getting married in TAS (I'm in NSW) in early/mid sept. How easy is it to travel with a new born? I'll be with hubby but still not sure. Will it disrupt any routines we have?

Has anyone traveled with a new baby and can give advice?
TIA
Best time to travel smile
To be honest you probably won't have a routine, and if you do, it is likely to change the next week anyway!!! We have travelled loads with DD and it is easier when they are young.
You will probably be very tired, so just be aware that you won't want to be out late etc, baby should be fine as long as they are with you.
i went camping with my oler two when the were both 4 weeks old and it was easy
its a good time to travel - especially if you are breastfeeding!

baby is still mostly sleeping and if you are flying and bubs gets unsettled it is so easy to breastfeed and not have to worry about heating up bottles etc.

i flew when my DD was about 5 weeks old and was nervous the entire week leading up to it but it was so easy! much better than flying with her now at age 3 LOL
We travelled from when DS was a week old, and it was the best thing we ever did. He is fantastic in the car. Where DD we didnt travel much at all and she is terrible in the car.

Its more than possible, you just have for extra stops to feed and change them but i agree with one of the other ladies, it is the best age to travel with.
just remember that although your baby will sleep in a car seat, its not a bed.... they really should only be in a car seat for an hour at a time. This is what we were told in the nicu with traveling with a baby is to take them out of a car seat and let them stretch their wee bodies....

maybe having a carry cot style pram is a good idea also as you can use it as a bed and if baby is unsettled you can use it for rocking etc.

also bear in mind that if it ends up you have to have a c section all best laid plans can go pear shaped and you may have to flag the wedding.

having said all this we went camping with a 6week old baby that was 5 weeks prem so she would have been 1 week old adjusted... and we had a fantastic mountain buggy with carrycot pram. and breast fed babies will travel

Going against the grain here but I couldn't think of anything worse! lol I love spending the first few weeks at home getting breast feeding down pat and recovering from birth, I bled a lot for the first month after my babies were born and I was also very sore and exhausted and getting my babies to attach and feed properly took a couple of weeks. Each to their own but to me it wouldn't be something I would do.
Yes, 5 weeks plus is great for travelling but for me travelling with a 2-3 weeks old (like it said in the title) would make me feel uncomfortable. I know it's only a couple of weeks but I guess I just loved being at home recovering.

Edited to add that I didn't mean that in a mean way. smile I just thought that 2-3 weeks is different to 5+ weeks. smile My babies were anyway! lol
