Travel Insurance at 34 weeks pregnant Rss

Hi All,

I will be travelling to Fiji in 4 weeks for my sisters wedding and will be 34 weeks pregnant. It seems that all the insurance wont cover past 26 weeks.

Does anyone know any insurance company that will give me cover?

Hi There,
In my former life I was a travel agent and I never came across an insurance policy that would cover you at 34 weeks, but check with your private health cover, credit cards (if you have paid for your trip via CC) or try online. You may also want to check with your airline that you are okay to fly at 34weeks... some airlines have restrictions or may require you to have the all okay from your obstetrician before you fly.
Enjoy FIJI!!!

Ohhh Fiji - you lucky thing!!!!

You're lucky you got the clearance to fly, my Obs wouldn't let me go from 30 weeks. Your private health insurance may have something, I'm not what the rules are with some of the banks (who have travel insurance).

Have a great time!!!
I got travel insurance at 32 weeks (but I don't know what the cut-off was to know whether they would have covered up to 34 weeks), and it was an incredibly hard job finding it! Most companies wouldn't insure past 28 weeks and there was only this one that did. I believe the only requirement was that you had to have a letter from the obstetrician stating that you were fit to fly.

Now, this probably isn't going to be overly helpful because it was purchased from the financial services division of a chain store in the UK, where I was living at the time! However, I have just looked on their website to find out who the actual insurance company was, and it appears that it is AXA, so I'm thinking that because they're obviously an international company, you may find someone over here that sells AXA insurance and be able to get cover that way.

Hi Laura

just wondering how you went with getting insurance? I will be 32 weeks when I travel to Bali and am having trouble finding insurance.

Thanks
Sarah
Dont know if you've tried them but NRMA has been pretty good with travel insurance
Sarah, how did you go, did you end up finding any insurance for 32 weeks. I land back in Oz just as I approach 31 weeks and cannot find cover over 30 weeks! Getting nervous!

Hi. I just wanted to come on after searching high and low for travel insurance for my daughter, i hopefully have found one, just wanted to share it http://www.ihi.com/- Bupa international - my daughter will be 32 weeks pregnant when we go to America, was a family holiday - was very stressful finding someone to insure her. Note from the email they send to me::

We hereby inform you that in regards to pregnancy, there is no cover after the 36th week of pregnancy, or 18th week if the pregnancy is a result of fertility treatment or you are expecting more than one child (Please see art. 21.1.7). Premature birth is covered if it can be documented that the policyholder has not had any complications related to the pregnancy before the start of the trip. You do not have to fill out any pre-existing form as we do not consider pregnancy as a pre-existing condtion. Our travel insurance provides 100% unlimited medical cover for any emergency treatment required while
travelling abroad
Hope this helps, regards Tania
Hi Parlourz,

How did you go with travel insurance for your daughter through ihi - Bupa International? I would also like to get this cover as i will be 29 weeks during travel from AU - US.
How much did it cost you for this type of coverage?

Any information would be great!

Thank you

Hayley
Hey Hayley - We are not going until November - But, the form looked easy enough to complete. I think the quote was roughly $92.00(18 days) usa which is great, considering they cover mummy & baby 100%. I took the time to recommend this Company as no one else seems to cover after 30 weeks. Thought id save someone else the stress of looking lol. I thought our holiday had to be stopped, was ringing airlines blah blah lol. I am so relieved it worked out in the end, I Hopeeeee anyways. Hope this helps, if you need anymore info, let me know.
Regards

Tina
