Taking bottles on planes Rss

Hey ladies, I thought I would ask you guys this question instead of being on hold on the phone for an umpteen amount of time with the airlines. This may be a silly question, but I was wondering if anybody knows the regulations regarding taking formula on planes and taking formula powder from NZ to Australia? We are heading to Sydney, from NZ, for a week in May. I was wondering if I am allowed to take a bottle on the plane, as I thought you were only allowed 100ml of liquid max because of bomb threats etc. Also I was wondering if I am allowed to take a tin of formula over, I would declare it obviously, but I was under the impression that milk and meat products were a no go. And one more question... With me booking an infant ticket for DS (meaning he doesn't get a seat to himself), will he still get a baggage allowance of 20kg?

I've tried finding the answers on air new zealand's website, but had no luck. Thanks for your help smile

I can only answer some questions and my experience is with Air NZ Domestic but might pay to still double check but yup he'll still have his normal baggage allowance, is also allowed a buggy and carseat (this in particular could be different with domestic vs international) and bottles were no problem at all

I am looking into this as well but i'm coming from Australia to NZ.

As far as I could see on the website bottles are fine to take on the plane as baby product are exempt (they recommend giving them a bottle on the plane to help with ears) so i would assume that formula would be ok too. Just not sure about bringing the tin into Australia. Might have to check with customs.

Not sure about the baggage either but my DD1 gets the baggage allowance on a childs ticket so will have to check about infants too.

Hope you have a great time in Sydney.

Thanks for your replies smile

Yeah I found that flysmart.govt.nz website just after I posted this thread haha. I also read on air new zealand's website that DS will get his 20kg luggage plus they will do the pram and carseat at no charge. All I need to know now is if I'm allowed to declare the formula. Do are guys able to get Heinz Nuture Gold over there? If so I might not bother taking a tin and just get my Dad to have some ready over there. Where abouts in NZ are you going Mum2Em&Madi?

Gosh my English is excellent today. You get what I mean laugh

Yes we have heinz nuture gold here. I'm going to the south island. Flying into christchurch and then traveling around for 2 weeks. Not going until the end of the year so have a bit of time to plan the trip, can't wait smile.

I flew Etihad from Cape Town - Dubai - Sydney and I had my formula is 4 little containers that joined together and my water in the bottles, I had 4 200ml bottles. I had no problems with it, in fact I didn't get checked once! I also had bottles of purity which didn't get checked.
