Can you get married on...? Rss

A long weekend?

Do you think it would be rude to? DF and I have picked to get married on Sunday 21 October 2011....This is labor weekend.

Do you think yay or nay??

Chels smile

I think it will be fine and I doubt anyone would have a problem with an extra day off for recovery grin

Just do some research and find out what priests/celebrants are able/willing to work on the long weekend. All the celebrants I talked to were very accommodating though.
I think a long weekend would be a great time to get married as I think people would be more likely to come to your wedding.. Good luck on your special day smile

I think it fine. It your day and you should have it when you & your soon to be DH want it to be.

Sure you can, but you might want to send 'save the date' cards/messages to all those you are planning to invite, cos people may have regular plans that they do every year on long weekends. For example, my DH races his motorbike on a few of the long weekends, they are held the same long weekends and we just know that. Other friends I know of go away every October long weekend.

So, sure go ahead if that's what you want, but if you dont send 'save the date' then when you do get around to sending invites you may find people have already got other plans that are hard to change.
Hi! We got married on a long weekend accidentally lol it was 08 when Easter weekend was 22nd march - I was thinking Easter was in April so planned everything without realizing till later! Worked out perfect - our interstate guests got to stay an extra night catching up with everyone etc.. No one seemed to mind at all smile

Congratulations - how exciting!!

Agree with PP that you should let people know the date early in case they have plans.

Also, do you have many people coming from out of town? On a long weekend flights and accommodation are likely to be more expensive, and may be filled up early.

You may also find that the venue you would like to use could be either fully booked, or closed, or more expensive, depending on what type of venue you are using.

Not saying don't do it - just saying there are a few things that you might need to think about that normally you probably wouldn't consider.
We got married on the June long weekend (WA) last year and we didn't have any issues.

We had no issues with suppliers (or inflated costs).

We had the wedding on the Sunday, which gave us Saturday to do stuff and everyone had the Monday to recover. smile

Good luck with your wedding!
