Back Yard Wedding

Hi All,


DF and I are getting Married in May. Have decided we are having a very personal wedding, in our back yard.

Anyone else had one? How did you find the over all turn out?

Haven't had mine yet but am also planning a backyard wedding in early may haha.
We are either going to rent a holiday house for the weekend (our house is too small, I have a big family) or have it at my parents.
Haven't even started planning yet besides that haha. Oh I have had a little stress 'what if it rains' but haven't gotten much further than that.
So anyway, sorry for not being much help but I'll be watching this topic!

My mum had one 3.5 years ago at home. They live on just over an acre, it was really nice. All the tables and chair were set up on the grass, the caterers set up under the pagola and mum and step dad stood by the pool. There wasn't that many people really, probably like 50 it something. It was a really good day, and really relaxed.

We have about 50ish people too, not including children.

I think if it rains (which it most likely will, because it will be winter) then we are going to set up the garage, and get married in there.
We are lucky that we have a big back yard, and a very big garage.

Miss Bee, how many people are you inviting?

We're going to have a big bbq and pig on a spit for food we have decided. I'm real worried about rain too!!! not sure what we will do if it does. maybe look into a marquee.
What are you going to wear? traditional dress or not?

We are just doing finger food all day, and maybe a Hangi. I figured for us, if we just put up sheets or something on the walls and roof, it will actually look like a marquee haha smile


Not sure yet about the dress, I'm finding this the HARDEST part so far. Just real lost on what i like.
I did have a dress that i LOVED! But am having second thoughts on it sad lol

What about you? DO you have a theme or just going with it??

just going with it so far... we only decided like this week that we were going to do it haha! I like the idea of sheets in the garage.
I agree about the dress being hard... cause you don't wanna go all out but still need it to be special. Whats the dress like that you had picked out?

I'd love to lose the rest of my baby weight before the wedding!!! I hope I can.

I just spent 20 years just re doing my tickers lol Umm, the dress i had was REALLY simple! It was off trade me too, for like, $129!!! Here's the link. I'm not the fancy kind of person lol The sizes are all really weird with this dress too. Like 10" difference between the breast and waist! I'm not worried about my baby weight. DF said I'm going to look beautiful no matter what i wear, so why stress over the little (well big in this case LOL) things. And i so agree with him. Are you in Oz or NZ?

We originally were getting married in Oct, but decided last week we were getting married May. Just get it over and done with.

DF's birthday is on the 16th, Mine is the 19th, which is the day we are getting married on. It is also my birthday AND our anniversary lol And DD's birthday is on the 23rd.
So we are all 3 days apart. DD's 1st birthday party is the weekend after our wedding lol So it is going to be very eventful month!!
