Egg donation
I am becoming an egg donor soon, (answered an ad in a paper) wondered if anyone else had done so, and how they felt about it, do they hear from the people, etc...
I have been a donor twice to the same couple.
The first time resulted in a pregnancy, unfortunately the lady's waters broke at 21wks and bubs was born at 28 but passed away as his lungs weren't strong enough.
The second time resulted in no embroys as was a complete disaster.
I have been thinking about doing it again but because I got over stimulated the second time and was in so much pain, I have decided against it.
The couple I donated to don't talk much anymore. We have each other on facebook but don't have the close relationship we had when we were going the cycles together.
Can I make a suggestion, sign up to Aussie Egg Donors as it is a great place full of very supportive women. It is a private forum so you will have to wait for approval but the wait is never very long.

Sorry, don't know how to work this thingy. Thanks for the reply Suz. If anyone was wanting to see what happened, I thought I'd post it. Went through the cycle, very low dose of puregon as he was afraid I'd hyperstimulate, so only 4 egss. 3 embryoes out of that, 1st transfer failed, 2 frozen embryoes to work with.
I have been. 11 eggs colected 6 made it to embryo but unfortunatley no sticky bubs. Didn't stick once transfered to create pregnancy. We don't talk anymore but did often throughout the process and for a while after.
.
I have been a donor 2 times now and it was a wonderful experience for me to know I have helped 2 different woman in having babies and being in there life’s and watching them grow up petter is 2 and Mary will be 1 in couple months but you have to know it not all good and can be quite painful during all the injections I would really look into it before sighing up to it I hope this helps: D
I have donated eggs, I had the egg collection procedure in September this year so the eggs are currently in quarantine for 6 months then they go to whoever the fertility clinic thinks needs them the most.
The injections were fine but I was very tired after the egg collection procedure and it took me about 2 days to feel normal again.
The eggs are not going to anyone in particular so if I want to know I have to apply through the RTC to find out.
I got 5 eggs collected and 4 were good enough to freeze so I really hope at least one of them works for a couple out there smile

I am an IVF Mum and although I haven't donated, I have had eggs collected and been in recovery with egg donors and the donees. It's a fabulous thing to do. They were all so happy!
It's great to see that people will do it.
If I was younger and qualified to be one I would do it. I find the stimulation and collection process completely bareable and it would be worth it to give someone a chance to be a Mum.

The lady I gave the eggs to is having the last embryo transfered today. Sending my prayers her way...
Oh Sarah sending sticky vibes over too, I really hope she gets a bub out of this smile
I've donated 3times (3different couples) since late last year. Couple 1 have had a baby girl this year. Couple 2 and 3 had major male and female infertility issues (my eggs were fine) but there was really no point in continuing due to the male infertility as well.
Am waiting for joint counselling with couple 4 and should start this round beginning of next year - all going well.
Yes there are injections, bloodtests, scans, egg collection (small medical procedure) to endure but it really isn't as painful as childbirth LOL!
Good luck.
