Hey,
Head to your local church and ask about it. I am not religious. I know my SIL got her children christened. You have to attend a certain amount of services leading up to the christening. That's about all I know!
Hi,

My bub was Christened in September. Like yourselves we are not really relgious but are both christened so decided to have our bub done to. All I did was contact our local church and booked the day in with them. The church posted some informtion out to us to read and fill out.
We were asked to attend an information night which basically just explained what would happen and what you are required to do (this only took half an hour). Our girl wore the same christening dress that I wore when I was christened which was nice and we had to bring a candle to church to be lite.
We choose four god parents as it was too hard to choose just two.

The hardest part was that we invited over 50 people back to our place to celebrate. We had lunch catered for so all the food was delivered hot and ready to go.
Overall it was a great day plus all the relatives got to meet our baby so I'm really glad we did it.

All the best with your bubs christening.

Our children were all christened last year, there was a baptismal program run through our school. We had 3 meetings with our parish priest and Sister leading up to the day, and because there were older children involved we had a practise run at the church before the big day. We did need to get candles ready for the day and I bought some beautiful ones from an eBay store, which have my children's names and the date of their Baptism, which is a lovely keepsake for the kids. If you want a link let me know, they were very well priced and great service smile Because we had no family here (interstate) the church community had a little celebration gathering afterwards, which was just lovely, and alot of the kids teachers and fellow students came along too. It was very touching to see the effort they went to to make it a special day for us smile

Get in touch with your local parish, they will give you all the details you need. All the best xx
Hi there,

We are having our DS baptised this Sunday!! We are all very excited..and as he is 3 years old so we've told him all about it and he has met with the reverend.

We attempted to get DS baptised at the church that DH was baptised at and the same church that we were married...however...the reverend was not keen at all. He really tried to persuade us into having a "naming day" rather than a religious ceremony. He wanted us to attend a number of Sunday services prior to the day and then attend 8 weeks of evening "preparation classes" - without our child (!!!) (ie. needed to find a babysitter 1 evening every 8 weeks, ummm, impossible). And as we were unable to meet these requirements (DH works evenings - as a permanent shift, so couldn't go to "preparation") we were unable to have the baptism done.

So......we ended up contacting our local church. The reverend is lovely. She came to our house last Sunday and met us and talked about what would happen next Sunday. We gave her the names of our godparents (could choose a maximum of 4 godmothers and 4 godfathers - we have 1 of each). They will give DS a candle on the day as a special gift. No need to attend any services, no preparation classes and just a lovely welcoming attitude.

Both were Anglican churches and we got 2 very, very different responses about Baptising our son.

Good luck!!
