Another question for all the renters
I just got a letter yesterday from our real estate about an inspection. It said that they also take photos. Is that normal? Would it just be photos of the room? I've rented through two other real estates and they've never done that.
We rent and our real estate has never asked to take photos during an inspection. That sounds odd to me and I'd probably ask why they wanted to??

It says that they give copies to the owners and they also keep a copy. I guess I'm fine with them taking pictures of the rooms but worried that they're going to take pictures of the wardrobes and things like that.

when we use to rent , they took photos of each room, but they always put your personnal photos face down and you could remove any personnal objects that you wanted before the photo was taken.
they never photographed wardrobes
edited to add maybe your owners live inter state and what to see how there property is being kept ?

Maybe they're wanting to sell it???
I'm thinking maybe they want to sell aswell???
Ours have never taken photos before at an inspection, that's a little weird.

I think they do it for all the houses they have. I hope it's not so they want to sell it. It might sound weird but it kind of bothers me that people I don't even know are going to have pictures of our stuff. Who knows what they do with the pictures.

I'm a landlord in WA and my property manger always takes a couple of photos of rooms at each inspection. It's just so the owner can see how the property is being kept. They are allowed to do it but there are restrictions from memory on what they can photograph and how many they can take. The ones I receive are usually just taken from the doorway of the room. Hope this helps.

Thats a huge help thankyou. Thats good that there is restrictions, I might see if I can find any info about it.

We rent privately do our landlord just comes over after asking lol like I get why for the photos but I think that really is pushing privacy boundaries a tad.
I just had a look on there website and gave them a quick call and they can take photos to show the landlord. There's no limit on how many pictures they can take or what they do take pictures of. She did say though that they can't use the photos for advertising purposes without our consent.

I have the info that the property manager gave me when I signed them on as the agent at home. I'll see if I can fish it out tonight and I'll post what ever info I have.
Just read your post. At least you know. I wouldn't worry too much. I don't look too closely at the photos I get. Just a quick check to see that things look ok.
