Pass the parcel question! Rss

When doing pass the parcel at a child's bday party is it best to put a treat between every layer of paper and rig it so that every child gets a turn at unwrapping or is it ok to just do a few layers and only a few kids would get something?

I hope this makes sense laugh

Thanks grin
It depends how many different games you will be playing and whether everyone will get a chance to win something.

If everyone will eventually win something each, just the one prize. If there isnt, maybe something small every few layers.

Well, thats what i would do lol no idea if that's right or not.

I would put a treat every layer and rig it.
DP says no way.

So I guess each to their own lol

Hmmm I think we are only doing pass the parcel, musical bobs and pin the tail on the donkey as we have farm animals coming then the kids need time to eat etc lol

Maybe for the kids that miss out I could have a bag a freddos or something that way they all get a prize smile

Ahhh planning bdays are so hard haha

Why not have a fredo on the layers that don't have a prize. When I was a kid there was a wrapped lolly eg mintie or fan tail on each layer and only the middle layer actually had a prize.
hi - I do something little like a freddo or lollipop in each layer and then a prize at the end. Also not too many layers or the kids lose interest.

The other thing I found worked well was to have a bag full of little prizes wrapped up and kids could choose which one they wanted (for games like pin the tail and musical statues) and to have more than you think you will need ...

have fun - the animals sounds cool smile

Hey just wondering what company you are going thro for the animals
Thanks for all the great ideas! I will have to make sure everyone gets something as I don't want anyone getting sad lol

Rara Nay the animal company is called farmyard on wheels or something similar (we are in Perth) smile

Even though I didstinctly remember missing out on a prize once as a kid at a party I would have to say...... I wouldnt put a prize in every layer. The world has become too PC! We cant all be winners and I think its important that kids learn this too. Sounds a bit harsh I know but thats my old fashioned side coming out laugh

I do like the idea of having a bag of freddos for the kids that didnt get an actual prize smile

I kind of agree actually lol and I should have clarified I didn't mean an actual prize between each layer, just a freddo or lollipop etc then have one big thing for the winner...

But think I will opt for just a few layers then a bag of choccies for whoever missed out grin

I totally agree!! Kids need to learn that they can't always get a "prize" or "win", sometimes they have to just be patient. When I do pass the parcel I rig it so that all kids get a turn at unwrapping a layer but I only have a prize in the middle. Plus I wouldn't have a bag of freddos etc for those that "miss out" cause in my house the kids would probably prefer that to the prize so all hell would break loose!!
I don't think I have ever won a prize at a birthday party. laugh

I still remember the best prize ever..... a game of mouse trap in the pass the parcel. I always thought that would have been amazing to win. grin
It has to be a treat every layer for the little kids I think. Older kids maybe not though. You can get packs of 6 treats (like bouncy balls/bubbles/funny glasses etc) for about 2-3 bucks at bargain city or crazy clarks.
