is it just me? Rss

I went to go and 'splash out' today and go and buy myself some much needed new tops, and what did i find? Tops that are short at the front long at the back, tops that go nearly to my knees, see- thru, sidewayz stripes, or like 10x XL!!! Its like i hav stepped back in time! I wasnt worried about cost too much as long as it was flattering to my post preg body but jeez! Where do people shop these days for something that is normal without being to boring? I was after a long sleved top, kind of fitting, mayb a sloping neck. Not too much to ask! Im only 24 but feel like im 50 when i walk into shops like that!
Sorry bout the rant but i came home with nothing and im not feeling as confident as i was.... unsure
I agree with you!! It's not great these days sad

I tell you two shops that have surprised me- I never went in them before as I though they were for older women! But Rockmans and Katies have nice stuff and they have good sales- I got two really nice winter tops for $10-15 each and they are flattering!

I love this website birdsnest for inspiration smile

Couldn't agree more!!! I'm 26 and feel like we've gone back to the 80's!! I've never been that "in to" fashion but now there's no hope!

I don't mind some things from crossroads or rockmans, or good old Kmart and Target have some things I dont hate, but everywhere is is ridiculous!! I hate the mullet shirts and skirts (short at front, long at back) look! It's so eighties I feel like I should be wearing fluro leg warmers. lol!

Good luck finding something and if you do let us know where you got some nice clothes!

I thought it was just me! I'm really struggling to find anything i like this year! I don't think i really have a 'style' i just buy what i like to wear.

Target used to be my number 1, but i haven't seen much i like there. Im 26 and its hard to find things suit. Everything seems too young or too old!

I've started getting on ebay and buying things from the UK and the US
I quite like the fashions - but I usually like them on other people rather than myself. The loose shirts etc look really funky on super skinny younger women... but I feel like a fat frump in most of them.... and these days my shirts have to be breastfeeding friendly. I can't be bothered with ties and belts etc.

Target & kmart still have normal clothes. smile

i think it sucks too so i only buy new clothes if i have to lol
I had to buy a dress for my DD christening last week hours later and 2.5 hours later and still nothing. Thankfully I found something in the end, but totally agree with you.
I found ezibuy.com good for postnatal, target and rockmans, I even ended up at Millers with some nice tops. I always find winter fashion is yuk to buy.
I dont remember the long at back/short at front 80's shirts but am liking them now in my old age( good for covering my big butt lol).Stirrup pants and body suits( forget if thats what they were called- the tops close fitting with snaps in the crotch) were my staples in the 80's-I would love to see them back!I must be a bit mutton-like as I like the clothes at the shops atm.Rockmans, target, millers, cross roads, jeans west, even big w are the stores I buy from mostly, sometimes katies

mum of 3 boys aged 10, 11 and 13

hey dont be hatin' the leg warmers wink lol

i agree with you all, but then my sense of 'fashion' has always been stuck in the 60's and 70's. i get most of my skirts and dresses from random hippy shops and the markets, but tops and jeans etc i find alot of good stuff in crossroads, jeans west, TEMP (they have some beautiful stuff) and vallygirl. all those places have they fair share of crap in them too but i can normally find a gem or 2 wink

not a fan of K-mart or target i find their stuff deforms after a wash or 2
Well I'm down to my pre preg size 6, 45kg and 1.56 tall (so short and thin) BUT I now have a post partum pouch and I have a really hard time finding things that look nice and fit well. In the teeny bopper shops like Valley Girl, Temt and Ally I find stuff that is the right size, but it's TOO TIGHT around the jelly belly. Then if I go to the more grown up shops like Rockmans, Target etc, the size 8's are far too big so I look like a little kid dressing up in her mum's clothes. Also have to factor in breastfeeding as well as not getting anything with bling that my daughter would like to pull at. Jeanswest is the best place for me to shop, they trendy stuff but it's usually not overboard and they have a great range of jeans smile

As for stores, I agree with everyone, the fashion is going backwards and not forwards. You could probably fit into size 12 girls in Target - its cheaper and probably looks better. As for the jelly belly, I've invested in a tight fitted underwear that sucks in my belly - its fantastic.
