How to use mcns... Confused!!
Ok this seems silly but I've ordered mcns and I'm unsure how to use them... They are all in ones.. I'm presuming you put the thinner insert in the little pocket in the nappy shell then a thicker bamboo insert just on the nappy like a liner? If anyone can put a pic up or direct me to come pics online that would be much appreciated!! Thanks
Hi there,
What type of nappy are they? (pocket or the brand and style would be good!)
Does it have a gap that runs the length of the nappy. If so, then fold up your bamboo insert and put it in the pocket. You basically use the pocket to stuff with all your absorbent materials. You add extra inserts (boosters) if you want to hold more wee for things like night time and less if its for a short time. Hope that helps!

and you can buy either flushable liners or I use chux cloth and just rinse and wash it with the nappy, that'll sit on top of the nappy to catch the solid......not very useful with a newborn but still handy.

Hi the brands I have so far are coco baby, ezzy peasies and absolutely baby. They are pocket nappies and they came with 2 bamboo inserts. I presumed you put one or two inserts through the pocket but I'm curious do you put anything on top like another insert or something so the nappy cover doesn't get really dirty? If that make sense? Maybe like you were saying nadz with the flushable liners.. I need instructions lol at the moment I'm using them on my son and I've got one bamboo liner in the pocket then one on top of that but not in the pocket. To protect the nappy cover but yeah I didn't know if that was right or not. I'm on my phone at the moment OC but I'll check that YouTube link out later when on the iPad. I tried googling it and not a whole lot came up.. Thanks for the help both of you though smile

the inserts that come with them are to go in the pocket. Depending on the material, they probably won't get too dirty anyway. If you want to protect it, do what nadz says.

Thanks OC! Do you actually have to use a flushable liner or chux or can you put nothing there? If you put nothing there does it wear the nappy a bit quicker?

MCN are great.
As the others have said- you put the bamboo inserts/ microfiber inserts/ whatever it is you are using, into the pocket. on top of the shell that your wee one will sit in, you can leave as is, or buy flushable liners so you flush the solids away. you will still get alittle bit of mess on the shell, but that will wash off in your machine- and sun light helps bleach the nappy as well- so make sure you dry on the line, or next to the window on a rack smile
i dry pale mine (meaning i dont soak them) i put a few drops of tea tree oil in a bucket for anti bac purposes, wait untill i have a few (5?) to do, then wash as norm. also dont use any conditioner with your wash- it can leave a residue on them smile hope this helps some what.

You don't have to put anything there. I rarely did unless I was pretty sure they were going to do a poo and that was solely so i could just pick up the liner and flush it rather then try and get it off the nappy. (have a look at a little squirt. It might be good for you if you are going to do this for a while.) It won't wear the nappy any quicker, it just makes it easier for you in regards to poo, or also in an emergency if you don't want your bubs skin to touch the material of the nappy if they have a reaction to it. But, I didn't use liners very often.smile

Ok cool thanks heaps that answers my question! I can predict when DS is going to do a poo now so might not bother too much with liners. I almost got him to the toilet today lol.. When I'm using them for the baby I might use liners a bit more. With a toddler would you put 1 or 2 inserts into the pocket?
Oh and I just looked at the little squirt that is so cool lol!!!! Our plumbing in our toilet is hidden though unfortunately sad

I can't use one for my loo either...... My friend had one though and oooo how I swooned! lol
How many you use will depend on how fast he goes through them. The issue will be how bulky they are. Some pocket nappies are just really bulky by the time you put the right amount of boosters in to suit. I would start with one and see how you go. At night, use two. Or get a specific night nappy so it isn't as bulky but absorbs a lot. (although in saying that I have no idea how bulky your nappies are.
It seems very new now, but soon you will be dishing out advice to other people who want to use them!
