Can anyone shed some light on this. I know when I was pregnant with DD (5.yrs) and DS (3.5yrs) they said no soft cheeses but have since heard that as long as they are Australian they are fine. I have heard this from not only a cheese maker (who said all Australian cheese has to be pasturised) and also from a few pregnant friends. I was chatting to another pregnant friend last night and she said you still couldnt eat it? What have you all heard?
yeah I have heard both as well. When I was pregnant the 'rule' I was told was must be pasturised, and not be like a cut off a big wheel iykwim, it must be one of those little self contained ones.
My DH (who used to be a cheesemaker) said that soft cheeses like Brie Camembert were not ok but cream cheese (like Philly) was ok. However if the Brie/Camembert was cooked & eaten hot that was ok. It's a bit confusing with all the rules what you should/shouldn't do
