Besides showers and lots of steam there is not a lot that relieves whooping cough. I hope he gets better soon, also try get him to spit out what he coughs up, i carried a bucket everywhere with me when i got it a few years ago, and just constantly spat into it, not pleasant but better out.
Vaporisers
I have been using a vaporiser each night for my DD chest congestion, doesnt do any harm and would be worth a try and has been helping my DD, it wont be a miracle cure for your little one, but if it gets you a night sleep, i would be trying it.

Bumping due to SPAM...and I hope Mr T feels better soon K.

Vaporises are good to use, they add moisture back into the air.The dryness in the air often makes the babies or childs cough worse.
Showers are also helpful, and don't forget the comfort of panadol. Goodluck!

If he does have whooping cough not a lot will cure that, unfortunately, however because the vaporiser adds moisture back into the air it can help relieve some symptoms. Hopefully with some relief he can get some sleep (hence you can too!). We used a vaporiser when my little one was two weeks old with a really dry cough and it did wonders for sleeping at night. At the very least it won't do any harm - good luck!
A vaporiser definitely helps, you can try elevating his mattress a little bit, that helps him sleep better when by reducing the coughing as less mucus flows at the back of his throat when he is slightly elevated. Worked for us, hope it does for you too.
When using the vaporizer make sure you have the room well ventilated and take anything out electrical eg dvd player. My little one was born with congestion and I used a vaporizer with him from 4 weeks until about 4 months. It does help with their breathing, I also used vicks baby balm on his singlet and couple of drops of pure lavender oil in his bath at night. Lavender is suppose to help them sleep better. As to the ventilation that is because condensation will build up in the room so I use to leave his door open slightly or start the vaporizer an hour before bedtime to allow the air to gain a bit of moisture. Good luck and I hope
