We have just started swimming this week, a homeschool art class and a movement class for the little one. All purely by coincidence that they happened to all hit us at once. I decided to put both girls in the movement class, then dd1 decided she would rather go back to swimming, so then we figured they should both do it, then the art class came up and it was just too good an opportunity! However we are homeschooling so it isn't too taxing to do 3 things in a week! We probably won't continue doing all 3 next term, we will just see how they go with them.
Am I the only slack mother
I think you sound like you have it sorted Chalys. wink

ok.... Supermummy I wasn't having a go at you - just happened to post at the same time - awkward.....
Lol axiom, no worries. I get where you're coming from completely and I kinda agree with you. Like I said, other than a term of ballet dd didn't do anything until she started school (largely coz my work schedule changes each week and I couldn't guarantee being able to take her). Then because I figured I would have to pick her up from school each day (or organise someone to for me) I enrolled her in swimming (before that I had taught her myself but she was no longer listening to me. Lol) and gym (at her request). Then when I had massive issues with my pregnancy she started doing some after school care so I didn't have to pick her up and dh could when he came home/because I spent so much time in hospital (she also wanted to do this as all her friends did anyway so was basically like a playdate for her!)
Dh and I both play netbal and she has asked for years to do it too but her school didn't til year 3, so this year she added in netball, and she also requested flippaball and since she has been having issues with swimming lessons I thought flippaball might help her with that so I allowed it. We dropped gym last term but have picked it up again this term (and dropped flippaball). It is a lot but she has asked for it all, and I want her to try different sports etc to hopefully settle on one or 2 to follow through on when older. smile
As ds gets older and more involved in stuff she may have to cut back but at the moment we still manage to do everything, and she is happy. smile
ds is 4 and will start his second lot of swimming lessons (with dd who is 3) at the end of the year. that is currently their only extra activity.
the only must in our family is that both kids have to learn a martial art. dh is a black belt and wants the kids to do a couple of years.
i HOPE that my kids will want to do some form of sport as they get older. i wont force them though as we do a lot of running around at home anyways but would definately prefer they want to play a group type sport etc.
i must admit that i seem to be the only mother to a daughter who doesnt want her to do ballet lol.

Sometimes i feel a little crazy with the kids activities!
The both of them do swimming on Saturday morning between 8 & 9am (thankfully less then 5 min drive from our place so isnt a massive cut in our day)
My daughter then does Ballet that afternoon between 2 & 245 so it doesnt give us a huge amount of time during the day on Saturday to do alot so we usually plod around etc
My son drives MX most weekends (not in comps just with his dad) for a few hours and then on Wednesday afternoons once a fortnight he has speech theraphy at 4pm.
Both hubby & I work full time, 5 days a week so we dont have much spare time either!
I dont want my kids to miss out just because we work so I feel the need to make sure they are able to do anything they want without me having to say 'we dont have time for you to do that'... it streches us some times but we have help which makes things easier (my MIL sometimes takes Madison to ballet)
