I love Dr Sears!
I just had to express my love for Dr Sears after watching him on 60 mins. He is awesome! I don't agree with every aspect of attachment parenting but I wanted hubby to watch the segment as he doesn't understand extended breastfeeding and baby carrying so I just wanted to show him it was normal. That it all smile
Was wondering if anyone else was watching the thing on attachment parenting...interesting ideas, not entirely sure what I will do when I have a little one! Not sure about breastfeeding a 4 year old though!
Anyone else see the thing about Thalidomide? How horrible!!

I personally wouldn't breastfeed past 2 years old but I do think it opens other people's eyes to show that it's totally normal to breastfeed an older child! My thoughts on extended breastfeeding have changed dramatically in the last 3 years I didn't even know if I would breastfeed my first born at all when I was first pregnant with him!
The thalidomide thing was horrendous, I could hardly watch it it made me so sick!

lol.. I guessed that bit! I thought maybe it was for something in particular as attachment parenting is a very broad topic!
Yeah I had never heard alot about Thalidomide so yeah disgusiting!
Obviously very horrible but think it means a little more to me now I am thinking about having children of my own and talking to other friends with morning sickness and who are pregnant...you could just imagine how excited those mothers would've been about the so called wonder drug that helped with morning sickness.
Those poor children/parents, if my grandmother had of taken it my mum may have been affected. Too shocking for words.
Anyway sorry for hijacking the attachment parenting thread lol.

Was 60 minutes and it was certainly eye opening. There are some things that I think I will use such as having bub in the same room and feeding on demand but I think asking the child's permission before changing their nappy seemed a bit much and I can't see myself breast feeding for 4 years. Currently reading baby care by rhodanthe lipsett who talks about there is no one right way to raise your baby and you should take ideas from all over the place.
In regards to the thalidomide story makes me even more pedantic about trying to minimize any drugs that I take I try and stick with just my multivitamins. I can't believe how a company can get away for so long with selling a drug that did so much harm and yet has never been made to compensate the victims. And worse harboring nazis and the drug being potentially created by them is just gobsmacking.
