What are your "Go To" Dinners? Rss

Just wondering what people cook for dinner on those nights where they really can't be bothered?

I make tuna bake a fair bit & If i'm being extremely lazy the kids have egg soldiers! I'm after some new ideas smile
Thai green (or red) chicken curry. It's a Marion's Kitchen one. Everything you need is in the box, you can get it from Woolies or Coles and its only about 160 calories per serve! Also only takes 20 mins to make. I just put the rice on a little bit before I start cooking the chicken.

If I really don't want to cook I just make omelettes with toast, or just a quick stirfry

Quiche lol
spaghetti

Toast lol! But just for me if I'm lazy & df is working. For ds I keep some of those steam bags of veges in the freezer with some grated cheese & whole grain bread

My fav is soft tacos pack. You just need to cook the mince or chicken in the seasoning grab a bit of salad and your done. And if I'm too lazy for that I do scrambled eggs.

Thanks for the replies! Quiche would certainly go down a treat here with DD, she loves it. That's my biggest problem really, doesn't matter what I cook I can't win & DD whinges & whinges! I find it frustrating when I spend ages making something I think the kids will enjoy & DD just turns her nose up grrrr. She's 5, should she have grown out of the fussy stage by now!? She's been going to bed hungry most nights since she was 3!

DH works FIFO so when it's just the 3 of us I like to have quick meals on hand. DH does most cooking when home smile

Actually last week I just roasted up some veggies & had them with gravy, yuuummmmm smile
tonight I made ummmm well they don't have a name.
my gas ran out and I was making chicken sausage rolls. So instead I had to convert it and it was a winner!

corn wraps You know the big rectangle ones from the supermarket.

fry up some onion and chicken mince (I did 400g)
add some finely chopped mushroom (i did 400g and i used the food processor)
add some chopped parsley and some frozen spinach (2 bucks from the freezer section)
make sure its all cooked

on a wrap put half grated cheese and half of the mixture and mix it together sprinkle some pineapple over the top. avocado would work too. Put another wrap on top and put in toasted sandwhich maker until cheese is melted through and the outside is slightly crispy.

I was pretty impressed.

I have also discovered the world of savory pancakes. Chicken or veg or both in bechemel sauce or chilli con carne wrapped in a pancake with cheese sprinkled over the top and grilled until there are crispy bits. Serve with sour cream and avocado.

You are very creative! I pretty much need to stick to a recipe when I cook, that sounds yum. I really like the idea of savory pancakes, my MIL makes a similar type with spagetti type sauce inside with bechamel sauce drizzled on the pancake & that's delicious so I might give yours a whirl.

Leftovers that have been frozen. Thaw & reheat. wink

Yep, we always have a good stash of leftovers! Although DH eats them alot when he's home as he likes a hot lunch. We do often have spagetti bolognese leftovers when in a rush though smile
chicken/veal parmi is always good.

takes me 5 mins to make shnitzel, then when done, i just slap some sauce, herbs, ham and cheese on top and put in oven.

pretty cruzy and tastes awesome
Scrambled eggs, toasties, frozen fish.
