Obs / Drs in Bathurst Rss

Hi,

We moved to Bathurst about a year ago from Canberra, and this will be our first bub born out of the ACT.

At the moment we see a dr at a medical centre for all our little things, but wanting to know how things work in Bathurst, eg Midwives, antenatal care, delivery. The medical centre wasn't very helpful.... smile
I have low risk pregnancies if that makes any difference

TIA for any advice.

Hi Nelly,

I've moved to Bathurst in June when I'm nearly 3 months pregnant. I've the same problem when i first moved here from Melbourne.

Based on the research that i did, there is no obstetrician in Bathurst but if u willing to travel a bit to Orange, Dr. Ronald George Vaughan, is the only Obstetrician in town. You may consult from him if u dont mind to travel. The tricky thing is, Dr. Vaughan only in charge of Orange hospital. So likely if u have ur whole pregnancy consultation from him, u might want to give birth in Orange hospital instead. The good thing is, with him, u can admit as private patient in public hospital in Orange.

For emergency purpose, i also register myself in Bathurst base hospital. Therefore, for my antenatal class, i went to the Bathurst one which is as good.

I'm not sure which medical centre u go for, i went to Russel medical centre for a few quick consultation alternate to my obstetrician consultation. I think the GP that i see is pretty good in answering qs and i personally think she did a good job. U might want to try Russel street medical centre if u r not happy with ur current one?

Cheers!
