Hey
I am not in Melbourne, but I study at a university from home, everything is done online. Have you looked into university? If not Tafe offer courses that you can study from home as well.

Cheers
i study from home par time (well im taking time off atm until this bub is 6months then ill start up again)i have 2 toddlers and #3 due anyday smile

i live in NSW now but was in mornington for 12months, i study my bachelors degree at uni through USQ (university of southern QLD) theyre supposed to be one of the best distance ed providers in the country and have been very versatile and understanding with things like assignment due dates etc. im doing then entire degree by distance and they have ALOT available to distance students, even libary borrowing and stuff! i know theyre in QLD not melbs but i dodnt find the unis in melb to be good for what i was after.

i have also done a course thru cengage education a few years back (more for interest then career aspects) DONT do these types of courses..big waste of $$$ if your not after a uni course look into tafe courses instead (as pp said) be very careful with all those adult ed companies.
I am in SA and did my Cert IV in Animal Studies through Tamworth TAFE via correspondence.. but I also had to be working at the same time. But they had a great set up with online chat rooms where a teacher presents using power points. i had deferred from a Brisbane TAFE as they did not have the same system and I found it very hard to communicate with them.. cant remember the name tho.
I am studying through OUA, all online. They offer heaps of uni degrees. good luck

I studied thru University of New England (UNE) via distance ed. They are fantastic and have a great rep for distance ed.
The only thing is depending on the course and units you enrol in, they do what they call residential schools where you have to attend their uni in Armidale (NSW)and you do lectures and tutorials and stuff over 3 days or so.
My bestfriend has studied thru Open University for the last 3 yrs and is just about to finish and she has found it fantastic.
Good Luck with your choice =)
