I am new to Melbourne, have been here a week today!! don't know anybody so feel like a fish out of water really. I have a soon to be 2yr old boy (turns town in sept) and a 4 year old girl. Since i have recently arrived i am still getting sorted with daycares, jobs, house etc and we are currently living at a family members house in the due course. So any advice re daycares, schools, good areas, bad areas would be much appreciated.Or even if you would like to meet up sometime?would be even better. Pretty lonely in the week not knowing where to go as the partner is at work all day/week.
New to Melbourne from NZ have a 1.5yr old and a 4year old

Hey Darl,
Where abouts in melbourne are you at the moment?
I moved here from Sydney 2 years ago and still feel like i have no idea where everything is!
I have a daughter who is nearly 1 and a half and im 31 weeks pregnant with a baby boy!
It is hard and does take some getting use to but it really is a beautiful place here!
I guess it really depends on what you are looking for and your price range (for housing) there are a lot of new developments (to buy or lease) from point cook through to hoppers crossing and its a very new area so beautiful houses, parks, schools and such as its all newly built!
I guess it depends on what work you are looking for too for distance to work, but its not too far from the city and plenty to do in the area!!!
Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any questions or whatever!

Hi Louise,
We moved to Melbourne from Tasmania a few years ago now and I must say that I found it really hard to find where I fitted. It wasn't really until I had my children (2 boys now 2.5years and 13months) and got to know other Mums in my area and started looking at childcare and schools. I also live in Mulgrave and I must say that it's a really nice area for familys. Great schools, safe to walk around in, plenty of parks, feels really safe and close to everything.
Hope you find your place in Melbourne really soon and start to love it. I'm happy to answer any questions if I can.

I'm out West and love it. I have a 3.5 yr old girl and a 2 yr old boy, due Oct with a boy. Lived in Auckland for about 5 years too.
I find moving countries you do need to make new friends (even moving back to the same one). Its either through work or your kids.
Have you decided on an area to live yet?
