HI there,

i am currenly living in Brisbane with our 5 weeks old girl.
Planning to move to Mackay to be close to my husband in June.

THough i have some of his family members in and close to mackay, i know nothing about mackay and no friends.

Am a new mum as well, so kinda freaking out a little bit that if would be alone an lonely (husband wil be away from home for work)

I would like to know i there are mums in Macky keen to meet new people and share information, anything really !

I moved up to Mackay in Feb with my 2 girls (2&4) from Brisbane and din't know a soul either. My partner also works away for periods of time so if you ever want to catch up let me know!! I know how hard it can be, Jen

Hi, my name is Katie and I am moving to Mackay in 3 weeks with my partner and our two girls aged 22 months and 5 weeks. I am originally from NZ but lived in Cairns for a short time before returning to NZ to have DD1 in 2009, now we have decided to return to Australia with DP picking up a job in Mackay, so 2 years and 2 kids later we are coming back! Would love to meet up with other Mackay mums and have coffee or go to playgroups etc. I will keep an eye on the forums and hopefully get to meet a few fellow mums in my new town! I know absolutely no-one in Mackay so it's a very scary and exciting time for us smile

My partner has just been offered a job up in mackay offering great $$$. We have a 18 month old little boy. We won't know anyone up there and I'm freaking out a little bit, as my partner will be away at work for 2-3weeks at a time. Is there anyway up there that mum's go to meet or playgroups for my son? My hubby goes away for work for 2 months....from early Oct....
I will be overseas to see my family late oct, till Dec.

Hi all, We are moving back to Mackay in about a month and I have a 19 mth old son, Jacob . When we left he was 3 mths old and I didn't have any 'mummy friends' so I am a bit concerned about moving back. We've been in Brisbane and I eventually found a fantastic mother's group here so am a bit sad to leave. We'll be in East Mackay. Are there any other mums who are in a mother's group or interested in forming one? My current group meets up once a week either at a playground or someone's house, plus has 'mum's nights out' once a month. I spent the first 6 mths here so alone so I was so happy to join this group and have made some great friends. I really hope to find a similar group when I go back to Mackay. Colette

If you are on Facebook... There's a Mackay mothers group ... Mackay Teen mums (if u are one) .... Whats on Mackay mums? .... All good for shouting out in this sense. I know there is a lady called Tracey who is meeting at quota park end of bridge rd on Friday at like 9:30 as a start to a relaxed playgroup maybe for east Mackay... I go to mops fortnightly Monday's , where ur bub actual is looked after for 2 hrs while yr chill connect with other mums n equip yourself as a mum. hope this helps. it seems there are a number of expectant mothers and mummies moving to Mackay. I'm moving up there in 3 months from Melbourne and would love to 'network' & 'mothers group' with you. I am not a 'teen mum' so am not compelled to join the facebook group, although this is fantastic that there is one. We are expecting our first child in June 2012, and hopefully look forward to meeting with you soon. Will check in here again soon.

Hi everyone! I last posted back in June, we were about to move to mackay from nz,
well we made it! smile

My daughters are now 2 and a bit, and 6 months old. We are joining a playgroup on
tuesdays in the north mackay/mt pleasant area although we live in andergrove.

We have been here 4 months but am still to meet other mums so if anyone else
has kids of a similar age or are in the same boat as myself (new to town and
know nobody) then let me know.

Mackay in January - Hi everyone! Happy New Year!

I'm coming to Mackay (from Cairns) for 2 months in the middle of Jan 12 and would love to meet up for playdates/playgroups. My little boy is 2yrs, and I am expecting our 2nd at the end of March 12. If anyone would like to meet up at a local park, or can provide some provide information on local playdates that would be great.

I'm in the same boat as all of you i'm currently in Mackay with my 10 month yr old and husband while he does all his mine inductions and medicals to get in. We are from VIC and I'll be going back to VIC after the beginning of next month to pack our things and move to Mackay for good.

Anyway I would love to make new mummy friends and be able to catch up regularly let me know if anyone is interested.

My name is Kelly and I have 2 boys - 22mths and almost 4. It looks like we will be moving over to Mackay within the next month. We are currently living in Karratha (north west aust) but are originally from Newcastle NSW. We were first asked to move to Moranbah but have negotiated Mackay as a compromise so we are quite excited about getting back to a bit of civilization. We know no one in Mackay so it would be great to meet up with some other mums in Mackay once we arrive.
If anyone is interested let me know.

Also, does anyone have any advice of good places to rent in Mackay. I have been advised that places like Blacks Beach, Bucasia, Dolphin Heads etc are great areas - any suggestions? I'll be looking for a daycare, and my almost 4yr old will be going to school next year so keeping that in mind when we choose an area. Are there shops/facilities etc in these areas?
