Beerwah??? Rss

Hi Ladies,
We are thinking about moving to Beerwah with our 3 children and wondering if anyone has any thoughts on schools, kindys, swimming lessons etc.
Any info would be so helpful.
thanks in advance
Hi
I live in Beerwah but my kids haven't started at school yet. But from what I've heard the primary state school and high school are okay/good. There is a private collage called Glass House Christian Collage (GHCC) which goes from prep to yr 12 and seems to be the school to go to if you can afford it. It's very popular!

There is a C&K in Beerwah and in Landsborough (neighboring suburb) and 2 daycare centers. Plenty of playgroups, one at the state primary school, one at the baptist church at GHCC and another at the Uniting Church.

Swimming lessons are at the local pool through the warmer months from babies onwards. I think there is also a dancing school nearby too. The local library has story time for toddlers. There is a skate park. And Australia Zoo is great if you can afford a membership.

For groceries there are Woolworths, IGA and Aldi opening in July. But most of us go 'shopping' at the Sunshine Coast: Caloundra, Kawana or Maroochydore. The local GP surgery bulk bill all children under 16 and are quite good, especially Dr Taylor for kids.

Hope this helps in some way!
Hi,
Thanks so much for your reply! Very helpful! We went for a drive out there yesterday afternoon and the private school does look nice. we are meeting the assistant principal from the state school on wed for a tour etc so we will get a feel for the place then too.
is the c and k at the beerwah kindy? i have my daughters name down there and at bella grace.
are you in the new estate?
thanks so much again
Shannon
Hi Shannon,
There is a Beerwah C&K which I think is full but you can ring and try. My son goes to Landsborough Kindy (Lady Gowrie not C&K) and I'm pretty sure it has a few vacancies on the Thursday/Friday group with alternate Wednesdays. My son goes the other days and I know that group is full. It's $22 a day and I drive from Beerwah to send him there (about 10mins). Bella Grace is good too and cheaper than the kindys.
I live on a Macadamia Nut property but it's only 4kms from town. There are housing estates around us and ours (my parents) will be one too in the future.
I take my sons to the playgroup at the baptist church (where the private school is) on Thursdays. It's a friendly one you are very welcome. I've been going to it for 3yrs now.
Best of Luck with the move and settling in,
Sheridan
Hi Shannon smile

We live at Glass House Mountains and love it here, the estate we live in is very quiet and family orientated and so many places nearby. My son actually goes to Glasshouse Country Christian College and its a really great school, with fees only around $450 a term which is reasonable for schools on the Sunshine Coast.

There are lots like shops, doctors etc like Sheridan said and there is Landsborough Park which is popular on the weekend to take kids to with Skippy Park opening soon at Beerwah.
Also Morayfield shops is only 25mins away which have Target, Big W, KMart, Coles and Woolworths all in the same complex which I find is great plus shopping is actually cheaper there than at Coles Caloundra or Woolies at Beerwah!

Good luck with settling in, its a beautiful area! smile
Hi Shannon,

I also live in Beerwah. I see you have your name down at Bella Grace, they told me Im looking at the new year for a fulltime place ):
My DS goes to Magic Trees. It doesnt look like the prettiest centre but they are what I guess you'd call a "free-range" daycare. DS has been so much happier and learnt so much while being there.
I would advoid Glasshouse Early Learning Centre at all cost. They have so many open spaces for a reason.
Beerwah is great, as someone who was keen to live in Caloundra I fell in love wit it, mid you I live about 2 mins out of town.

Hope you enjoy it there.

Hi Ladies,
We are in the process of relocating and like the look of Glasshouse/Beerwah area. I have two girls a 1 year old and 3 year old. My main concern is finding a daycare/childcare centre for them to attend next year. The only childcare centre i have checked out so far is Glasshouse Early Childcare centre. Would love to have some feedback on which centres local mums/dads recommend.
I would love meet some other mums in the area, details of playgroups/mothersgroups that we can join up to would be awsome to.
Jazz grin
Hi Ladies smile

I saw this thread and had to get involved. I have two little boys (with number 3 on the way) living at Beerburrum and have been hoping to find some playgroups in the local area. So good to get some information about the local schools for the years to come too smile

Glasshouse Early Learning Centre - DONT DO IT!
The only reason I kept my son in there for so long was because of 1 teacher in his room. She quit after she was told she cares for the children too much. They went through 2 directors in 4 months. Which made it go from bad to worse. Most of the staff there are not at all caring. They used to call me up at leaset once a week to go and pick up DS. There was never anyting wrong with him! EVER! They knew I had jus strated a new job and I felt like one of the staff (who was very close with the director) had it out for me.

Wow thats awful, its hard enough to juggle being a mum and working let alone having to deal with a childcare centre that treat you with no respect. Thank you so much for sharing your experience i will not be sending my girls there they are very affectionate and would hate for them to need a cuddle and just be pushed away! Im heading up to check out Magic Trees today. Hopefully i have some luck there grin

Hey! You must be one busy lady! How old are your boys? We're in between homes at the moment but are hopefully going be alot settled in the new year (depending on if i can book the kids into daycare/swimming lessons etc). I havent checked out the playgroups up here yet but if you would like to meet at a park one day to give the kids a play i would be keen for that. My girls are 3 and 1. Just throw me an email its funkyjazz2001@hotmail.com
My son also goes to Magic Trees. Not the prettiest looking daycare but the staff and director are such beautiful people smile
