Montessori Playgroup Rss

Hi,

I am considering enrolling my son in the Montessori playgroup when he is 18 months old (almost 1 now). Just wondering if anyone has any feedback on their playgroups. I am keen to go as I think he will learn more than he does at our local playgroup. Also, does anyone know how much it costs per term as I am awaiting a phone call back but seeing as the message bank is run by volunteers, I may not know for a while.
Thanks, Cara wink
I wanted to try a Montessori playgroup last year, so I could get an idea of what their school would be like.

However, they wouldn't let me bring my 2 younger girls with me (the playgroups are age based) so it didn't suit me.

If you only have 1 child though, I'm sure it would be good.

Hope they got back to you with the answers you need.

Hi Cara,

I am a part of the Banksia Montessori Playgroup, based in Mirrabooka. Mums and toddlers come from all over the perth metro area to attend and I can't speak highly enough of the playgroup. It is teacher run and it is lovely. I have been taking my little boy since he was 2 yrs old. It is by far the best organisation I have ever been involved with. The mums are lovely-kids are great too and they are always doing heaps of fun activities.

We have a facebook page called Banksia Montessori Playgroup if you would like more info.

The baby days are Tues and Friday at the moment, starting the first week of Feb the costs are as follows:
Cost of Playgroup:

18 months-2.5 years $150 for the school term (2hrs/week) generally 9.30 to 11.30am

2.5yrs -3.5yrs + $180 for the school term (2.5hrs/week) 9.30 to 12midday

The teachers are always doing above and beyond what is expected of them and the kids thoroughly enjoy themselves!

If you would like anymore info, please get in contact with me and I will help with your questions the best I can.

Thank you

Kelly

Hi Zoemummy,

From my experience the Montessori playgroup is a teacher run session with set activities, arts, crafts and interactive mat sessions. It's more like kindy. The kids don't 'have' to do any of them if they don't want to. The teachers encourage free choice/play so the kids can choose what activities interest them. Plus mum/dad are encouraged to spend one on one time with their child helping them with puzzles/activities. I was at an ordinary playgroup before I found Montessori and it was basically just like a mothers group meet up in a venue with art and craft available and toys but no structure as such.

I have found the Montessori playgroup to be really great for my little boy. He is becoming more confident in group situations, meeting lots of new friends and loves bringing home his art for daddy! He now asks to go to 'school'.

I can highly recommend it! I hope this helps. If I can help with any other information, please let me know.

Hi there,
For anyone looking for a Montessori Playgroup, my friend and I have just started a Montessori Playgroup in Auckland.

You can find us on Facebook it's called Montessori Playgroup Remuera. We aim to cater for 1-3 yr olds, however younger and older siblings welcome. For more info you can email me through FB or contact me on 021803818.

Our first day of term is tomorrow, ie Monday 13th Feb. We start at 10am - noon and are based in the former Remuera Playcentre rooms, at 12 St Vincent Ave, behind St Paul's church.

Michelle and I are both teachers. I am a primary teacher and Michelle is a Montessori Early Childhood teacher.

Thanks
Natalie
