what state are you coming from?
we moved 4 months ago from bris and i would have to say in the area we live in there is so much for us to do. parks, bike paths, pool, city, gardens, shops oh no sunday trading real hard lol. everything is so close for us here and i would have to say wa is really beautiful. but dont forget to get a sat nav. it has saved me from not being house bound.
i feel rent is more, between electricity and gas it is about what we paid in elec in bris, and food about the same.
i miss not knowing people being here and i just miss my family so much. but in saying all that we are glade we did the move even if in 2 years after contract we do go back home. it has been a great experience for us.
feel free to ask more.
i hope iam of little help.
Hey! I grew up travelling Aus and have been just about everywhere (cept NT too hot for mum and sis there) but if I had to choose a state to be in it would either be QLD or WA. Depends what your after really... are you a city girl or a country girl. Is your a city girl coming from Brisy, Sydney or Melbourne you may find Perth a bit of a dissapointment, I know I did. But I love the country/city towns. I'm living near Bunbury at the moment (2 hours south of Perth) and its great because I've got everything close by but theres also the country like feel. If your more after a beach-y sorta place Margaret River and Dunsbourah are really good, even as far south as Denmark or Albany is good.

But yeah theres a little bit of everything over here and once you make a few friends and start to explore you will find you love it! Although yeah, homesickness is a problem if you've lived in the same area your whole life...

I agree with My Prince Corey on this one.
I and my 2 sons moved to country WA so my DP could spend time with his family. Have been here 3 1/2 years. Hate it! People are nice but that's about it. I'm not even really home sick, I just don't like it here. The schools in our town have turned out to be crap despite being rated quite highly. Food is very expensive and hard to get anything truly fresh. And there's nothing to do besides playing sport and breeding within 200kms.
DP was born and raised here and even he is sorely disapointed after spending 12 years in other states. So we are heading back where came from.

Hi I'm living in brissy been here 3 years but thinkin of making the move to Perth next year as partner in the mines. I have a 4 year old daughter who starts prep in Jan & I'm due in Jan with our 2nd child. I've never been to Perth and wanted to know of good suburbs to live in near the beaches & schools too. I've been lookin at Scarborough, hillarys & north beach so far online. Can anyone give me advice?
hillary's is quite expensive and over crowded if those don't bother you it's quite nice scarborough is dirty but I don't know about north beach hope this helps
