Hi Im 26 and have 3 kids 6yrs 2yrs and 16 mths my husband and i are thinking of moving to kalgoorlie in the next year or so and wanted to know what there is to do there, i would need to find a playgroup or similar, daycare and school, thanx.

i'm moving to kal also in the new year. i lived there a year before but came home to have baby and now we are moving back. from what i have found out the ycma have play group and gym for kids as for day care i just rang them all an put my daughter on the wait list. well we should catch up when u get over there. my partner and i will be there in jan.

There are multiple play group options in different parts of town.

Daycare - we love ours which is in whitlock street, plus there is one in Rule court which is quite good. If I were you I would put your name down on a few as under 2 years is hard to get. The ABC still has a couple as well.

As for schools not sure what is good but again depends where you live. I have a friend who is a techer so can find out what she thinks

Hi, thanx girls, as this post was a while a go I now need to know about antenatal care as im expecting bub n.o 4 due 12 may 10, at the mo I see my doc as he is trained for that and its what i would prefer, with my second we were living in perth and i was having to go between different midwives and diff docs which i wasnt comfortable with but didnt have a choice. Also the hospital. thanx

I moved to Kal a couple of months ago and am currently expecting baby number one in January. There is only one hospital in Kal and from the dealings I have had so far - the maternity section and the midwives are lovely. There is a couple of options for care - you can choose your OB/GYN (there are several in town) or you can do shared care between the midwives, hospital and the OB/GYN on call. I have chosen my doctor and he is fantastic - if you want to PM me I will send you his details. I am also attending pre-natal classes and the physio department runs fitness classes too! I will be happy to give you more details once I have bubs to let you know about facilites etc - but it all seems pretty good to me from what I have seen.

You will need to book into the hospital as well, just ring the maternity ward to do this

Hi Ladies well we're finally here in kal, my sons in school, got my ante care sorted, seeing dr Hodson at tower med centre, just gotta sort daycare and playgroup now amongst trying to unpack, which is proving difficult as theres nowhere to put anything, mainly the kids toys are left still got 5 or so boxes.So stressing out with that, hoping everything will have a home by next week.

Well after a holiday to Australia last week my DF and I are moving to Kal!!! I'm excited but nervous / anxious / scared at the same time haha. Looking at getting a part time job so I can meet new people. I have a DD who will be 2 in October and we are going to hopefully start trying to expand our family after our wedding in November.

I thought I might jump in on this group as my hubby and I are moving to Kal very soon. Hubby in 3 days and me and our 16 mth old in a couple of weeks.. Not forgetting number 2 aswell... I'm 9 weeks pregnant! We are currently in Perth and I've never been to Kal!! So I'll know no one and am hoping to meet some mums sooner rather than later! Excitement is building, so are the nerves but all in all I'm embracing the adventure! The believe it or not 3 weeks ago we hadnt even had a single thought about kalgoorlie but one Phone call and hubby was offered his dream job! We had 2 days to make a decision and kalgoorlie here we come!!!

im 34 weeks pregnant 35 weeks on friday, just would like to no if the hospital in kalgoorlie is a good place to have the baby and how the midwife are?
i havnt even seen DR barny mccallen, see him on the 15th do you think he'll be angry that im so late to see him?
do they give classes on what to do, after a have the baby?

Hi Ladies, FTM DD 4mths old. Hubby has been offered a great job in Kal - We currently live in Mount Isa I don't think it will be much of a change for us to move to Kal but any info you guys could offer me in regards to where to live (mainly the places to steer clear of) We are very used to living in a quiet very nice neighbourhood. Also any advice on care options for my little one (I have never put her in care ever but I will prob return to work at her 6mth mark) Also I am a chef I haven't really come across too many jobs listed for chefs but I can't imagine having a problem finding a job. Just anything to ease the stresses of moving 4000+km's away from all of our family (might put my mind at ease)

Well after yrs away we are back in Kal but it seems that everyone we did know has moved on (typical I guess of mining towns)

I hope everyone has settled in nicely.

Being a 6 1/2hr drive compared to a 2hr drive to the airport and then 5 hr flight to see family is sooooo much better.

Hi, thought I would just join in on the Kalgoorlie mums posts. I'm new to this website, just joined a few minutes ago. I'm also fairly new to Kal. We moved here in June and I'm still pretty new to Australia, we only moved here June 2010 and lived in Perth for a year. I'm 15 weeks pregnant with our first and at the moment I'm not working. I'm slowly going slightly crazy and feeling very homesick because i know no-one in Kal so was hoping i could get to know some lovely mums and/or mums to be on this website to meet up sometime! I also wanted to ask if there are any antenatal classes in Kal. I've looked online but found nothing so far. Hope to hear back from all you Kal mums, thanks Pauline smile
