Karratha
We're trying to decide whether to move to Karratha for DH's work. Can anyone tell us what its like living in Karratha. We have a DS who is 2 and one due in Feb 2010.What are the hospitals like? Is it really hard to get appt with GP, OB or MW?
I dont live in Karratha, I live about 6 hours away from Karratha. Its a nice town we go up there about 4 times a year for shopping. I am due in Feb but am going down to Perth to have the baby. I have been told that the hospital is very good up there though.

Hello,
I live in Wickham (which is near Karratha). I have found the hospital staff, obstetricians and GP's really good up there. The obstetricians are Fly In Fly Out and most of the ones I have dealt with are really good.
I however am due mid January and I am unfortunately won't be having the baby in Karratha, as Karratha Hospital is a low risk facility and due to medical conditions they would have flown me down to Perth so I am having bub in Geraldton, close to my partners family.
I know that you probably have made the decision to or not to move, but I know it is hard moving to a new town and not knowing alot about it. I have been in the Pilbara area for 3 and a half years and have found Karratha to be a nice town, but we struggle to find baby products and goodies there. There is a baby shop in South Hedland and they are great as they do deliver to Karratha for free.
I wish you all the best and I hope that one day we could catch up in the near future, it is always nice to know people around the area.
