Geraldton Rss

Ok I am originaly from here but I'm just wondering if there are any other mums on here from up there too.
I'm moving up to my parentals place as we have been living with FIL for 2 years and I've had enough!!
DH is doing FIFO to Dampier and we are hoping to get him into the Gindalbie mine when that starts up, or Oakajee.
Well I'm 26 and we have 2DDs 2.5 and 1, I am making the move this weekend so I may not respond for a week or so until everything settles down!!
Cheers big ears smile

Surely someone lives in the midwest?

Hi,

I live in Geraldton and my partner also does FIFO work! Hope your move went well and you are all settled in!! I have 2 DS 9 and 7 weeks.
YAY there is someone here

DH is doing DIDO now to Tallering. It's what we wanted so it's really good! Drove out and picked him up this morning actually.
I settled pretty quick, was easy because I'm from here originally so know how to get around and all the rest.

Hey,

Yeah mine DH is at Plutonic which is not to far away but not as close as your DH! Glad you have settled in good, always makes it easier when you already know people! I have lived here since I finished school, I am a teacher at a local primary school but on maternity leave for a couple more months!
I came on last night and meant to reply but got sidetracked watching TV shows I miss while putting the girls to bed!
Unfortunately I lost contact with alot of people when I left, or maybe I grew up alot, who knows. I only have one close friend who lives out of town in Nanson, but even she is damn hard to get hold of!!
What sort of roster does your DH do? Mine is 2/1 (and home now) which is pretty good compared to some of the others he's done!
My 2 DD are boofheads, absolutely run amok and sometimes I wonder if they even feel pain. The youngest has this thing with smacking everything at the moment which is proving to be a real hassle, DH always tells the older one off for hitting herr sis but it's really the ounger one that starts it!
So how long have you lived in Gero?

I know what it like to get side tracked with children!! My oldest thinks if I am on the phone or computer that is his chance to run amok!
My DH does 1/1 (home now also) which is great! I have lived in Gero since I was 18 so 10 years now! I did go teaching up North for a year for something different! Do you go to playgroup or anything. I have just joined the library they do a session for little kids and their parents, just waiting for them to get back to me with the details of when it is and such. If you are interested I can pass on the details, then I would have someone to talk to!! Well baby is crying talk later!
I've been looking at playgroups but haven't really made up my mind.
I have thought about starting one for FIFO families. There is one in Perth and it was great as everyone knows and understands the sort of things you go through with FIFO work.

We go to the library every 2 weeks on a Thursday, my 2 LOVE their books although they are a tad noisey. There has been a bubs thing there once when we were there but I can't remember what time it was. We also go swimming probably every 2 days at the moment, either the beach or the pool but depends on how hot it is. I keep meaning to go join the toy library, it's in 8th st, but keep forgetting it's only open Tues and Sat 10 to 1130 or something. Other than that we are at home alot and sometimes go to the foreshore park in the morning.

We went to the babies & kids market yesterday, had a sticky beak! Wasn't too bad but DD1 decided there was TOO many people and started chucking a wobbly. She's very shy around adults which can make it hard.

Well best be off one is doing the 'toliet dance' and the other one is starting to destroy things!

Great idea about the playgroup! I guess my baby is to little for playgroup yet, he is 9 weeks old, but we will have to look for one!

Gee bub just started to cry!!! Typical! We had a look at the kids market thing too, I wanted a second hand bumbo seat, but there wasn't any, think I am just going to have to buy a new one!!

Do you go to a library session or just take your kids? Better get the baby..Are you on facebook?
Well we just won't make it a 'structured age' playgroup, more a mother's FIFO sanity group!!!

They have a knack for arcing up right when you start doing something. My 2 still do it! I had one of those bumbo seats but gave it away just before I moved. Actually got rid of ALL my little baby stuff we decided we weren't having anymore and it just meant less for me to pack.

I normally just go and get a few books out. I find in public I get very flustered having to keep my eyes on them, the youngest likes ripping books and the oldest likes hiding, not good combinations in a public library. On top of it they are VERY noisey.

I'm on facebook, I'll PM you my email address.

Best be off meant to be doing some cleaning, DH went back Tues and I'm trying to catch up with what didn't get done!

I think the playgroup is a great idea! I would be in for sure!!

We would really like a little girl but I am not sure about trying again! Although DH is keen for 1 more!!
Men are always keen for one more, they have the easy part!!
DH keeps saying he wants another, but then changes his mind AGAIN! I've told him now more and it's final....

Well I guess better get my butt in to gear with a playgroup then!

Hi there!!

My inlaws are from Dongara, they have a market garden there...
We are often up there, and at one point we were going to move there... so glad that didnt happen now. Maybe next time we are up there we could arrange a coffee?? would be nice to get away from the inlaws LOL

I'm so glad we made the move, although I am missing somethings that you just don't get up here! But hey I've lived more remote than this and coped!!

The foreshore has an awesome park so if your ever up, I'm definately up for a coffee!! We left Perth to get 'away' from the FIL, best thing we ever did plus DH got a really good job with a really good company.

We would of been moving up to the inlaws farm... hence the glad we didnt do it. All the plans were a little 'too good to be true' and a bit 'that would never hapen like that!' I do like it up there, but i think i like being close to my parents a little more smile My inlaws are 'hard work' so im glad we are away.. im thinking its most inlaws! ROFL

Well they are coming down this weekend, so im guessing we will have to go up there next... not 100% sure when that will be, prob not too long away though.
I'll let you know smile

Looks like I might be down this weekend.
Need a few things, and mum wants to go down too.
Haven't told DH yet, he might think I'll spend too much money.
