Thinking of moving Rss

Anyone know much about - Byford, Serpentine or surrounding areas ?
Housing?
Jobs?
School?
Sports?

~

Im not actually in that area, but am about 20 minutes drive away and travel there weekly to see my best friend. My DF also plays footy for the local club nearby, Mundijong. The area you're talking about is still very much in the midst of being developed so there aren't a lot of schools to choose from. The schools that are there are very small though, which can be better. A new primary school is due to open in two years I believe.
There are also no big supermarkets or takeaway places actually in the area yet (I think there is a subway & pizza place though), but I have no doubt these will be popping up soon due to the huge boom in the area. There is a big shopping centre about 10-15 minutes away with everything you would need.
Byford is about 30-40 from the city itself and can be accessed easily from one of the major highways. I do believe buses are accessible but trains are not yet running through.
In terms of jobs, it depends on what you're looking for, but everyone I know there has been able to find work so there must be some around.

It would definately be a big change from one of the major cities, but it's definately a lovely area.
The only downfall I can think of is the wind in the area - but that'll change once the area is developed more.
Hope Ive helped! smile

Thank you for the reply.
We live in an area classed as rural atm so I don't think it will be a problem for us, our kids go to a small school and I love it.
We are 10-15min from our major shopping center.

Do you know what the internet is like there?
Currently I only have access to dial up or wireless.
DH has a truck license HR, but also has 15yrs experience doing concrete and labouring and can drive a bobcat.

Is there sports for children, my son plays rugby league.

No problem at all smile
Funnily enough, I used to work for one of the major internet companies down here - but have no idea what its specifically like in that area. But my MIL lives 15 minutes further south and gets ADSL so I cant see it being a problem. Im also pretty sure that my bestie (in Byford itself) has wireless on her laptop. Dont hold me to that though. Phone coverage is still pretty dodgy though, my phone goes to roaming when I head out that way - Im with 3 mobile. My DF is with Optus though, and his is fine.
With all the development in the area to come, I would have no doubt that your hubby would find work easily! And everything is trucked over to WA so they are always looking for more drivers. I think you'll be fine. Might be worth having a look at seek over the next few months to see whats out there though?

Im not actually sure about Rugby facilities in the area as my boys play footy (I think AFL is a lot bigger over here than Rugby...), but the big suburbs are only 5-10 minutes away so I highly doubt you'll have any problems getting your DS in with one of the neighbouring teams smile
Thank you so much smile
