Any mums over 40? Rss

Hi, i've just joined the huggies forum and would love to chat to other mums over 40 or with large age gaps between their children, i'm 42 and have three children aged 17, 16 & 15 months.

Hi I am 35 have an DD11 DS3 and ten week old boy I find it hard at my age having younger children socially because all my friends kids are grown up! they have gone way past the nappy stage.
A lot of comments are made about the age gap with DD and first son but thats nothing really,my DD has already said she does not want children she might changed her mind later.
Has it put you're teenagers off on an having children or wants them early?
What area are you in ?

Hi & congratulations on your new son. Most of my friends have grown up kids but my partners friends are all starting families, so she still sees other kids around her age but my close friends all have older children and dont have plans for any more.
I think having her has put my kids off for a while, they can see how much hard work it is and she is now at the stage where she's into everything and you cant take your eyes off her.
I'm in hills nr Mundaring.

I am in Gooseberry Hill, not far from you I do mosiacs in Mundaring I used to go to the nursing home for a playgroup there as well.
Not far then
i do leadlighting at mundaring sharing, i did it a few years ago then when i left work to have this one went back for a refresher course. I want to learn mosaics next term as i'd love to make some stepping stones for the garden, my 7 year old niece has made me some lovely mosaic things, i reckon if she can do it i can too! I haven't started at playgroup yet but i'm thinking bout joining the local one soon, she loves going to daycare while i'm doing my class so she would probably love it and i could meet some local mums too.

i've seen a notice for all age playgroup at the nursing home which involves the elderly people as well, is that the one you went to?

Thats where I do mosiacs been off for a bit but joining next term again.Do you go Thursday? I wanted to do the leadlighting but they said it was a circle. I have done copperfoiling before loooved that.
You never know we could be doing the same class
Yulumba nursing home I think thats what it is called.
Do you go into Midland much?
Do you know many people in Mundaring?
Have you lived there for a long time?
We probably know the same people!!
yeah I go Thursday, there is plenty of room in our class only about 5 ladies, I think its just called a circle. I go to Midland all the time have lived in the hills for 20 years, we probably do know the same people!! I've probably said hello to you at little possums! Do your kids go there when you're doing mosaics?
I was on roster there last monday then my daughter got sick Tuesday, a really bad cold so I didn't go Thursday, she is still sick now.
what have you made in mosaics? I love copperfoiling as well, I have all the tools to do it at home but don't have much of a chance as its not the type of thing you can do with a bub under your feet.
I like going to Mundaring Sharing to do it anyway, it gives me a bit of a break from bub and I have a bit of adult conversation for a change.

Hi I normally go in and say hello since I have had bubs but will be going back for next term. Can you do copperfoiling in leadlighting class? wasn't sure they would let me I would love to do that again I think I am better at that then mosiacs, I have made a pot, number and trying to do a little table for my DD a Dockers one,oh yeah and a mirror and a stepping stone. What have you been doing in leadlighting?

Have not been to little possums since the new staff came are they nice there?
We should catch up or I should pop my head in one day down there.
I go to Midland once a week I like Target
We have only been living here for 2 years before that we were in Kewdale

Yeah you can do copperfoiling in the same class, I am doing a copperfoil welcome sign at the moment because I wanted to do something that I will have finished by the end of the term but I dont know if that'll happen it has a lot of tiny pieces to cut out.
No Dockers stuff in our house, I'm an Eagles supporter haha, my partner is Essendon and he went to game yesterday. I was getting a bit nervous towards the end, thought they were going to beat us!
I like Target to, Big W and Best & Less have some really nice kids clothes to, its a really nice shopping centre now.
I didn't know the old staff at Little Possums, I have only been going there for 2 terms, but the ladies there now are lovely. One is pregnant, in the early stages and has morning sickness, she had to change about 4 pooey nappies while I was there, she was looking a bit pale after that haha! Everytime they opened the changeroom door the smell was wafting out, it was gross, I'm glad I wasn't in there with the door shut!
I'm usually at Mundaring Sharing 9.30-11.30 Thursday in that outside art room in the carpark, say hello if you drop in.
Otherwise maybe we could catch up and have a coffee at Midland Gate.

Hi I might pop in this Thurs if not did you want to meet on Friday in Midland for a cuppa?
Do you walk or gym??
Cool, only thing is everyone in this house is sick at the moment, may be safer to leave it til next week, unless you are going to mdg sharing anyway pop yr head in, if we're all ok i'll be there.
I walk when the weather is nice but could do with some more motivation, any excuse I dont go. Really need to lose some weight, my partner tried to talk me into going to the gym but i'm a bit self conscious and dont want to go on my own.
I would like to do both though get myself fit so i can keep up with dd easily.
By the way i'm Kelly and my bubs name is Tara.
There is 2 Kellys in my leadlight class, me and my (unofficial) sister in law.

Hi Kelly
I'm Lavene DD Jemma, Trent and Lincoln
I need to lose 20kgs from bubs it does get hard to get motivated when on own,
even I would like to walk Mundaring Weir.
I have heard the gym in Mundaring is pretty good. I will start up netball again do you play?
We can leave it till next week to have a coffee no worries.
I might even be doing leadlighting next term now that I know they do copperfoiling.

Hi Lavene,
No I've never liked netball, played basketball and hockey at school but no sport since I left.
I need to lose 30kg (before baby weight haha!!) I only put on 8kg when I was pregnant with Tara and lost it all but was overweight before I fell pregnant.
I have never walked Mundaring Weir, it would probably be a nice walk for a change, there's lots of nice walks around here just from home so I dont usually go anywhere different.
My other kids are Tenita 17 and Coen 16

hello I am a 42 yr old mum with only young kids 7, almost 6 and nearly 5 but live in NSW. I was at the ripe old age of almost 35 when had our first son

mum of 3 boys aged 9, 10 and 12

Hi,
its great to hear from someone else my age, I was starting to think i was the oldest!!
The funny thing is nowadays lots of people are waiting until well into their 30's to start a family, there are just none of them around me haha!
I dont feel old, I still feel like I'm 19 inside, I do feel old when I get together with other mums who are not much older than my eldest daughter, we can talk about the kids but otherwise I just cant seem to relate, they all talk about stuff they did at school etc but it was all different in my day, sometimes I feel like I'm old enough to be their mum!

Hi, I am 40 in November and have 18 year old step-daughter, 14 year old son, 5 year old and 20 month daughters, and in some ways would like another but dh say's "NO". How do you fing your ages gaps? It works quite well for us as the older ones can help out a great deal when they are around!

Nikki, Brissie, mum of 3,

Hi,
I love the age gap, my older kids were a bit surprised when I said I was pregant, they were like "oh my god, your joking!" coz I was so old and past it, but they absolutely adore her, they cuddle her, play with her and are happy to keep her occupied while I take a break.
Best thing though, when I go to the shops with my eldest daughter she always wants to push the pram!
I love how all the kids are doing something different as well, my daughter has a full time job and loves it, having a bit of trouble with the son at the moment but its just 16 yr old boy stuff, doesnt wanna go to school or work, got mates to see, skate parks to go to, but I'm getting help there, and my youngest is beautiful, I love to watch her do new things everyday and just get excited over the smallest things.

Hi,
I'm a Mum of 3 boys and 1 girl - 7, 5, 4 & 2 in two weeks. I also live in NSW - Inner West of Sydney. I'm not over 40 - yet, but I'm sure not far off!! What part of NSW do you live in?

Hi, I'm 38 and have a 2 month old son and 12yo DD. I also have a 16yo SS and 12yo DS. We are enjoying the age gap and finding parenting later in life much different to being young parents. All the kids adore him and are of an age where they are really good with him.

A couple of my friends have had a big gap and a couple of them have just started their families in the last couple of years but most have kids DD's age. The weird thing is that my nephew and his partner are expecting their first in January so DS's playmate will be of a completely different generation.
Hi I'm 44 and have 3 ds's aged 27, 25 & 23 and 1 dd 9 months old. I've been married almost 28 years and love being an older parent. I also have 1 grandson and 1 granddaughter.

wow, that is a big gap! but how cool having grandchildren as well. How old are your grandchildren?

My grandson is 2 and my granddaughter is 16 months. My dd is younger than her nephew and niece.

haha! I suppose they're not going to call her aunty then! Has it brought you closer to your other daughters? I think it would be lovely to have all your daughters and grandchildren over together, who needs playgroup? haha
I get asked all the time when I'm going to have another one to keep her company, do you get that?
Even though my other kids are older, she has a 20 month old cousin and a 1 week old cousin and my partner has lots of friends with small children she sees (especially in the cricket season)so its not as if she is always totally around "adults" all the time.

hi Girls,

I'm 39 with 3 children DS 18, DS 16 and DD 6weeks, like all love the age gap the boys love there new sister and love feeding her, cuddling her.. i'm hoping she is a contraception for DS1.. haha his Girl friend kindly tells me know it makes her want to have one even more.. we are also in NSW in Panania near Bankstown

Wendy
Hi Wendy,
Congratulations on yr new bub! Bit of a worry your sons girlfriend being so clucky hey? haha, hopefully it'll wear off but then you never know it might be nice for your little one to have a playmate!! haha only joking. I have a ds nearly 18 she absolutely loves her little sister but is in no hurry to have any herself. My 16 year old son has a friend his age who has a 4mth old ds, he thinks the baby is great but he can see how tired she gets and that she is always home with the bub when her friends are out having fun.
I'm in WA but its great to have people to chat to that can relate.

Hi Kel, I'm 37 in November and have a 20 year old girl an 8year old girl and a nearly 2 year old lil man and one due on the 25th March 08

Hi ChesBrittjai,

Nice to meet you! You have a mixed bag of ages there. I'm finding that I love the different ages coz they're all doing something different, ie. full time work, school(when he turns up! ggrrr) and the little one at home.

My older two were 22 months apart and when they were little it seemed like almost constant fighting (its mine! no its not its mine! MUUUMMM!!! hahaha) thank god they're over that.

How far along are you, how are you feeling? Morning sickness?

I see you're having trouble with your lilypie ticker, I only got mine up yesterday after hours of trying, this is wot emma69 told me to do:

where you have your options of on lilypie of which format to use, its the second option down (i hope that makes sense)

and you only paste the section of it that starts with [img and ends with img]

Hi all
I'm 40 next week and have 5 sons ranging in age from 18 to twins of 2 years. Have been married for 21 years, and live in Perth. Love having the age gap, the twins stop me feeling old, and certainly keep me active.
Helen
Hi Helen,
How are you? I dont look in here very often, usually in the general chat section coz there's always someone there. I think havin kids later keeps you young, certainly keeps me more active than I probably wouldve been. Whereabouts in Perth are you? I'm east nr Mundaring, Ratmama (who has postings on page 1) is up near me too.

yahoo at last i've found a site with real older mums.I have 2 older children 21&19 and my partner and i have a 13month boy and we are trying for ONE more.We are both 46 and love our life and everything in it .However i do find it rather isolating, either my friends are working and their kids are older or old friends have simply dropped us .I'm a stay at home mum thinking about going to work a couple of nights a week replenishing at a local supermarket. For the money and to get out of the house a bit . Well thats it for now hope to chat sometime CHRIS
