Moving to Mount Gambier Rss

Hi all..
Well, We are thinking we might move to Mount Gambier some time soon, this is going to sound silly but we have never actually been there.. we have a good friend there and he says its a good place to live and I've Googled it a bit and its supposed to be a good place to raise a family etc..

i suppose my main questions are..

Does anyone live there or close?
What is the hospital like to give birth in?
What are the preschools like?
and is it a good town to raise your family in??

I am greatly thankful if anyone can answer these questions for me.
Thanks.

also, how easy is it to get work there?
is there many jobs vacant regularly?

Thanks.

Hi, I dont live in Mt Gambier, but we go there a few times a year as my DH races motorbikes and they have a road race track there (Mac Park).

So from my experience as a visitor, it's a lovely place to go with kids. Some great playgrounds; beach less than half hour away (Port MacDonnell); lots of shopping - a long main street full of all kinds of shops, plus couple of shopping centres, including a new one being built with a Big W and specialty shops; great public swimming pool (we spent nearly 5 hrs there on New Years Day because it was stinking hot at the racetrack and we were camping in a caravan so no way to keep cool); good playcafe; lots of local markets; excellent library which has recently been done up. Fairly flat around the main part of the town, so good for walking with prams and kids.

The only experience of the hospital I've had was a few years ago when DH came off his bike and injured his finger and had to go to emergency. He had no complaints and was treated fairly quickly, but no idea about the maternity - or even if they DO have maternity???

I think I recall that there is a member or two I've seen on here that live down that way, maybe by me replying it might bump up and catch someone else's attention.
Just had a look in one of the other topics, and it was SnazzyMummy that I was thinking of. She is on the Limestone Coast but not sure what town. Maybe you could send her a PM and see. Haven't seen her about on here lately but I think her account is still active.
personally being from adelaide and living here... its nice to visit crap to live but that is prob judt me. the hositalk depends on the staff some are so grrr! jobs can be hard and it can be kinda cliquey here.... it rains alot! there aint a heck of alot to do unless you are outdoorsy or have money to go places
